The CPI Inflation Rate A Sizzling 9.1% In June; Dow Jones Tumbles

The supply chain issues are only getting worse....that aint good.

And now there is a global famine developing as well, and expensive energy is just kicking our asses, predictably.

Set the stage? Can you expand upon that? What has been done to move past the 'set the stage' phase?

Within months of trump's trade wars, the wait for appliances was months. Prices increased 3 or 4 times in 6 months.

To this day, the supply chain issues are due in large part to a shortage of Chinese made parts for a number of products that are made here.

Yes, btw. Retooling.

Shame you don't understand tariffs.

Yes, set the stage for America to be able to compete against China's cheap labor and lack of environmental laws.

What do you think I don't understand about Tariffs? :dunno:

How does this nation compete with cheap labor? I'll move to your next question later.

What people dont understand is that once you let your manufacturing base go it would even if you did everything right which America cant manage now but even if you did it would take decades to rebuild it.

We have no understanding of how hard it is to build, because we dont build, all we do is tear down.

Currently? ... we don't.

The best Idea I've seen is to use tariffs to level the playing field. :dunno:
You're still speaking in generalizations. There have been crippling taxes on American consumers for 5 years.

How EXACTLY do they help fight against cheap Chinese labor?

A specific example, Whirlpool is still in business.

Tariffs make the Chinese goods as expensive as the American goods.

So what did you want to teach me about tariffs?

I give you kudos for trying to bluff your way through this discussion.

You don't know much about Whirlpool, do you?

Given the bureaucratic state which has come under the control of the "Save the Planet!" zealots and the courts which make building anything expensive and difficult it is not possible to build back American manufacturing.

Positive thinking is not going to change that.
