$2 Billion dollars thanks in a large part to one of the worst SCOTUS decisions ever. To put that in perspective that provide 40,000 people an income of $50,000. If that person was the bread winner for the median household of 4, that would be enough money to provide the median standard of living for 160,000 people.

And what has all that money produced? Not much. What a tragic waste of economic resources.

To put things in perspective, the political parties in the UK spent around £30 million at the last election in 2010. The only people who benefit are TV, radio and ads companies.

The one issue that Americans don't have the courage to face is that our government is corporate owned.

BOTH parties corporate owned.

We dance around this truth even though it is the perverbial 800 pound gorilla in the room.

If Americans can't control their own government .. tell me how great a plutocracy that masqurades as a democracy is.
 
We spend more on Halloween candy than we do on our elections.

Here is a thought. Maybe if the gobblement wasn't so intertwined into every aspect of its citizens lives there wouldn't be such an incentive to influence events. Everyone talks about the folks giving the money, but there has to be someone accepting it. It is sorta like only blaming the prostitute or the drug dealer and ignoring the person on the other end.

How much of the money that trades hands is less about bribes than paying tribute ala the Mafia?

Maybe if politicians weren't able to retire millionaires there wouldn't be such an incentive for them to stay there for 40 years. At the end of the day, the American people get the government they vote for.
