Appeals court extends order allowing Trump to deploy National Guard to L.A.

A federal appeals court on Thursday extended its block of a judge's order that directed President Trump to return control of California's National Guard to Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The unanimous order from a three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit is a victory for the president and allows for the continued deployment of roughly 4,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles, where they have been protecting federal property and U.S. immigration agents during enforcement operations.

Mr. Trump invoked a law known as Title 10 to call the Guard into federal service earlier this month in response to demonstrations against immigration raids conducted across Los Angeles. Since then, a total of roughly 4,100 National Guard troops and 700 active-duty U.S. Marines have deployed to Los Angeles...

I just feel so sorry for the National Guard troops. You know they are not being paid? And they will almost certainly never be reimbursed. Most of the homeowners among them will lose their homes.

Horse mierda, Never Right Walter.

“Those Guardsmen will likely receive formal orders and the proper backpay within the next few days, but that hasn't eased the concerns for troops anxious over potential financial strains and juggling family logistics, as the Guard does not assist with child or pet care. Though with the mission only a few days old, troops haven’t missed a paycheck yet.”

They will receive proper back pay and have not missed a paycheck.

There has always been financial strain in the military, delays when there is a troop movement order.

Have you ever been right, Never Right Walter? That’s a rhetorical question.

Did you serve, you know zero, zip, nada about the military.

So Trumpys are pleased with the militarization of local policing. LA cops were handling the problem. They are trained for that. THe National Guard and soldiers were not. Trump sent them in to lay groundwork for a bigger nastier use of military over civilians.

They will receive proper back pay
Back pay does not come with interest, but more importantly, reimbursement cannot be filed after 3 months. So if they do not receive orders for three months, they get no money back on their reimbursement.

Because they are not deployed, they are not getting food. Obviously, they cannot get "back food", but if the orders are properly written they might be able to get reimbursement on that expense too... Given that trump is slow walking their pay, anyone want to bet he will short change them on food reimbursement?

From time to time the National Guard is federalized, but there has never been an example of an "informal federalizing" in our lifetime. I am surprised it is even possible.

One would think Newsom would look after his own National Guard. Newsom can get illegals into food, shelter and benefits in a matter of hours. You would think he could at least give the NG some sandwiches and a cot until this is resolved. But as you well know Walt, Illegals come before anyone else.

They're fine...didn't you just say Newsom is looking after them?

You get pay for the food, if you are spending for it. Usually deployed folks, even to places like CA, get food brought to them.

Newsom is in a bind here. He could "get one up" on Trump by feeding and caring for his own NG till this gets resolved. However, that would go against the illegal vote. So what is he doing? Putting illegals in front of his own citizen NG.
