The Backfire Effect

did you even read this?

It does not say the liberals believe even stronger in the false information when presented with contridictory facts.

Man oh man you are proving this backfire effect is true with extreme prejudice.

This is fun.

that is a lie, counselor. YOU do

you call me a false preacher and I will call you a failed gofer associate in a dinky ass law firm....

see how that works?

lying sack of poop....

it is fucking hilarious to watch a failed lawyer act as if he is somehow judge and juror on issues where he has gotten his ass handed to him.

you made that comment yesterday and i wasn't even talking to you, i was talking to someone else....

it is so easy to prove your lies

Does this link into that study that whiney children grow up to be conservatives?

Can't accept no and just whine louder when told no?

Who admits that they are wrong? We have a thread from yesterday where a Democrat poster, Jarod, claims Obama is responsible for the drop in gas prices from July 2008 to January 2009, while Bush was President. Yet after having numerous people tell him he is mistaken he will not admit it and is adament that he is correct.

Just one example for sure but please save your holier than thou rethoric for someone else.
I do. I voted for Perot. It was a big mistake. I should have voted for Clinton. I was also wrong about the Big 10 last season. They were a weak conference. I was also wrong about serving red wine with Fish, that wasn't just wrong, it was evil. I'm sorry, ok?

it said MORE testing is needed and that this applied ONLY to this group...the report flat out stated it was not a sample of the general population...ib1 is still trying to insist it is....i showed him that was false and you and you both have your head in the sand, good lord, you're proving in this very thread that liberals do this as well....i've given both of you corrective information and you rail more adamently that this is not true....

Thus,
the correction works for conservatives and moderates, but not for liberals. In other words,
while we do not find a backfire effect, the effect of the correction is again neutralized for
the relevant ideological subgroup (liberals). This finding provides additional evidence
that the effect of corrections is likely to be conditional on one’s political predispositions.

so these guys find the statistical effect marginal so they proclaim no backfire...however, the mention that liberals when presented with corrective information it was neutralized, in that, it did not sway them....

that is why the report said more testing is needed:

It would also be helpful to test additional corrections of liberal misperceptions.

now let's see the very next sentence for the 3rd time:

Currently, all of our backfire results come from conservatives – a finding that may
provide support for the hypothesis that conservatives are especially dogmatic

Politically. People don't admit they are wrong politically. Especially when it is an argument between a Rep and Dem, between a conservative and a liberal.

And Jarod is still arguing gas has dropped under Obama when it fact it has risen. The cost of gas is a fact, it's not even an opinion.

Voting for Perot was a mistake?
Ross WAS right.

I have admitted to being wrong several times on this board.
But there was a couple of times I was as stubborn as Damo :)

I have now posted three times this evening and stalker has posted after me everytime. Jocking Cawacko.

how about showing us by admitting you're wrong in this very thread for claiming conservatives brought up the birth certificate issue....

not only is post 88 more accurate upon some further reading, but i discovered it appears that the corrective information (news articles) was not labeled corrective information to the participants. the false or unsubstantiated (mock news articles) were presented to the participants as authentic. i could find nothing in the report that stated they showed the corrective articles as "correct" rather they simply showed them another news article that was not labeled correct or mock. in fact, they differentiated their research with prior research and showed that when the article or information is presented as correct, people changed their mind.

Immediately afterward, the experimental group was
provided with the correct answer to the first question. Unlike the first experiment, this
more blunt treatment did change their opinions about welfare policy.

i told ib1 i would read more, and i did

forgot this (where they differentiate their study):

While both studies make significant contributions to our understanding of the
effect of factual corrections on issue opinions, neither measures the effectiveness of
corrective information in causing subjects to revise their factual beliefs. In addition, the
corrective information in both studies was presented directly to subjects as truth. Under
normal circumstances, however, citizens are rarely provided with such definitive
corrections

Where did I claim President Obama was responsable for the decrease in gas prices? Where? Where? Where?

You are the one who made this claim, if you cant show where I made such a claim, Id like to see you, as a conservative admit you are WRONG...

Cant do it can you?

Hypothisis of this thread proven!

Anything?

You may be right about what you are argueing... thats not my argument here, I was merely pointing out that lies were told about me in an effort to discredit me. I called them out on it and they have dissapeared
