the AR-15 follies: Here we go again!

I have never been an NRA member...........they are not the gun rights group every idiot anti gunner wants to believe. Negotiate Rights Away is their preferred name

They're the largest one although it seems they've gone off the rails with corruption.

Even so, I like the magazine American Rifleman. Most of it is just overpriced toys, but there are history articles I enjoy.

Okay, so we all know that Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa went postal in Boulder, CO grocery store this pas Monday. He killed a bunch of people before getting shot by the cops and surrendering. So far, the cops are saying it doesn't look like a American got "radicalized" by Islamic extremism. Instead, according to family and friends, the guy seems to be 1 brick shy of a load. The kicker is just 4 days before junior went off the very ban on the weapon he used was over turned by the district courts.

Now on one end you have the gun control folk and Democratic majority banging the table saying, "See! Get these damned things (assault weapons, i.e. the AR-15 type rifles) out of general population circulation! Ban them! "

On the other end you have the 2nd Amendment folk and Republican majority banging the table saying, "See! Muslim extremists/terrorists are here! It's not the guns, it's them!"

My take is this: If junior had no criminal record or official record of psychological problems, a 7 day waiting period for a background check wouldn't have made a difference. He would have every legal right under Colorado law to buy that weapon. You can only go far in trying to legislate against crazy.

BUT

Once again, the weapon of choice for mass shooters is the AR-15....a sweet little versatile weapon that does EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR....ASSAULTING AND KILLING PEOPLE WITH ACCURACY (as much as the user can apply). Now people will debate until doomsday as to whether the same amount of damage could have been done with other types of rifles or a handgun (or handguns).

BUT

We will NEVER know if the AR-15 is available to ANYONE, ANY TIME, ANY WHERE.

And the band played on. :|

The AR-15 design is very flexible. It's an excellent design. It can be used for defense (especially of farms and ranches), hunting, or just plain fun with target shooting. It shoots a small round, meaning kickback is limited, so the gun can easily be handled by most people. It has many configurations and accessories. It break down very easily for cleaning, and is a rugged design.

Prohibition doesn't work. All you do is create a black market. All you do is fund organized crime. All you do is increase crime. See your local drug dealer for details (and to find AR-15 guns and ammunition in banned areas, such as the SOTC).
Punishing innocent people for the crimes of another doesn't work. You get rebellion...and you should.

Yeah, just like pharmacists who won’t perform their duties by filling birth control prescriptions, and county clerks who won’t issue marriage licenses to gays, there will always be shitty cops who don’t fulfill their duties, too.

All losers.

It is not the duty of a pharmacist to fill birth control prescriptions.
It is not the duty of a county clerk to issue marriage license for same sex 'marriages'.
It is not the duty of a cop to violate the 2nd amendment of the Constitution of the United States nor to violate the constitution in their own State.

My bolt-actions are "weapons of war"; American, British, German and Russian. "Weapons of war" are what Obama and his pack of gun-banners want to ban.

I used to have an Italian one. It was advertised "Never fired, only dropped once" but the thing shot crooked so I got rid of it.
You have already demonstrated that you know nothing about guns.
You should read more posts from "liberals" on this forum. Banning all guns is on the agenda, but they want to start with "assault weapons", a fabricated term like "white privilege" to push a political agenda.
This part is correct about liberals. Using the media, they fabricate terms so further their racism and bigotry, and to divide people, and to sound authoritative when they are not.
No. Is charging someone with making bombs for making a bomb threat a violation of Constitutional rights?
Charging someone for making bombs is a violation of rights mentioned in the Constitution of the United States (2nd amendment).
Making a bomb threat is a form of brandishing and assault. Yes, you can be charged for that, even if there was never any bomb.

They send in a whole platoon after one individual. Do you think they have enough resources to send in a platoon at each household that might have firearms they don't like?
They know what they're up against, and it ain't just one individual. It's gonna be a whole lot of pissed off citizens. After a few confrontations, they'll get the message.

Biden don't want your guns. He's the president.

A January 2019 Department of Justice (DOJ) report shows handguns as the weapon of choice for prisoners incarcerated for using a gun in the commission of a crime.

The report, “Source and Use of Firearms Involved in Crimes: Survey of Prison Inmates, 2016,” presents information gathered during face-to-face interviews with a cross-section of the nearly 300,000 prisoners who used guns in carrying out their crimes.

The report shows that “handguns were the most common type of firearm possessed by state and federal prisoners” at the time they committed their crimes. Roughly eighteen percent of state inmates used handguns and the percentage was the same for federal inmates.

The percentage of inmates who used a rifle of any kind was 1.4 percent of state inmates and 2 percent of federal inmates.

Too bad Democrats keep focusing on banning guns instead of identifying and treating mental illness.

I am amused that you don't think that ALL criminals are mentally ill to some degree. Yet, in the recent and past cases, the perpetrators of mass shootings had no history of mental illness or diagnosis.

Answer fail, dickhead :palm:

No, he just doesn't want ME to have them. But that's OK, I think I'll keep them anyway.

Who said he didn't want you to have your guns?

Sorry, but I did not hear Biden ever say he would take yours or anyone's guns!

But buying an AR-15 should not be easier than obtaining a DRIVER'S LICENSE- in any state. THAT DON'T MAKE SENSE!

The Right To Keep And Bear Arms is a Constitutional right. Driving is a privilege.
