The A-10? Here to stay after upgrade

The legendary A-10 looks like it's here to stay after being upgraded by the Air Force

The U.S. over-spends on military.
Not only do we spend more than any other NATO member nation.
The U.S. reportedly spends more on military than all the other NATO member nations combined.

That's too $much.

The Pentagon knows that, and so it announced that it was removing the A-10 from the inventory, asserting that the $wildly $expensive F-35 aka Joint Strike Fighter could fill the same tactical air support role as the A-10, formerly known as the Thunderbolt, more recently as the Warthog.

But as dreaded as the A-10 was by our enemies, it was appreciated by the troops it helped defend on the battlefield.

So the plan to retire the A-10 has been revised.

Good.

It's a formidable weapons platform.

What will President Trump do?

The A-10 seats the pilot in a titanium bathtub.
Because the A-10's ground support role often keeps the A-10 at low altitude, it might be vulnerable to small-arms fire.
The titanium helps protect the pilot.

What a bird!

My many thanks to the men & women of our armed forces that help keep this valuable bird in the air.

i look forward to more decisions like the a-10 under mattis. Its different when the guy making the calls used to be a private and went up the ranks. You go with what works vs what is technically impressive.

This man knows of which he speaks.
