The 1920 Depression

Desh you posted the link:

Senate: 90-8

Democrats: 38-7 = 84%

House: 362-57

Democrats: 155-51 = 75%

Signed: Bill Clinton

She is either trying to pretend the first vote in the Senate was the one that was signed by Clinton or she is too fucking ignorant to comprehend the very link SHE posted.

Her numbers are not from the bill Clinton signed. When the bill was reconciled with the House, changes were made and the FINAL vote resulted in the numbers you posted.

Again Desh.... 91-8, clinton signed it, House similar .... BOTH parties deregulated the banks you fucking moron.

Again... smaller government, does not mean NO regulations. There are regulations that are beneficial and there are those that are detrimental. Neither party is FOR or AGAINST 'ALL' Regulations you fucking moron.

That is simply what brain dead morons from one party or another use to demonize the other party. Yes, the Dems do tend to want to over regulate and the Reps tend to shy away from regulation. But it is NOT the black and white issue you continue to try to make it out to be.

Bottom line... you are full of shit... as previously stated.
But who were the 8 who voted against it?!!! You think they were Ron Paul?!!1

Are you truly this fucking ignorant? Or this much of a party hack Desh?

It has to be one of the two.

I never stated those who voted AGAINST the bill championed it. I stated those who voted FOR the bill championed it.

The OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of BOTH PARTIES VOTED FOR THIS BILL. PERIOD.

It's pretty amazing we've had maybe five different threads on this same vote with her over the past six months or so and she still continues to try and argue against the results of the vote.

In her mind Democrats only want to regulate and Republicans only want to deregulate. Therefore when presented with something like Glass Steagal or Sarbenes-Oxley she's not quite sure how to respond because it doesn't fit into her perceived world view.

I think Desh has a decent point. It's not an argument she will ever win, but the idea that a vote in favor of a bill is a vote in favor of every single word of the bill doesn't reflect reality and I think a move to a place where members only vote in favor of a bill if they support every single word of it is not a good thing.

LOL... the 10 who did not vote for it... 8 Democrats and 2 Republicans... one Rep voted present and McCain did not vote.

The Democrats are listed on my 'tip of the hat' thread to those that voted against the repeal.

How many people every really support 100% of any bill? If a bill is debated, hacked up etc. someone might say I don't like some of the new stuff added but on the whole the bill is still worth it so I'll vote for it. Isn't that what happens most of the time? How many people who just voted for the health care bill said this is a great bill and I support 100% of it.

yeah, ok.... fine... provide the standard cop out for the politicians...

'oh, I only voted for it because of that one little line item... the rest of the bill sucked and I really really didn't want to vote for it'

Your above excuse is bullshit. Plain and simple. You want to get around being 'blamed' for everything in the bill? Then get the politicians to stop putting mammoth bills together that hodge podge a bunch of things together that have nothing to do with each other.

Lump the like items together and quit adding shit to the bills.

The continued cop out that both parties use is pathetic.

so which part of the bill are you saying they didn't agree with, but voted for it because of some other part?

Desh, will you spend another day trying to spin these vote numbers and explain how a Democratic President signed this massive deregulation law and how a Republican Congress and Republican President signed a massive new regulation in Sarbenes-Oxley?
