that two wolves and a sheep thing?

yeah, coming to life every single day. This is how the government controls us, by pitting economic interests of the majority against the property rights of the minority.

Seattle condemns private parking garage to build public parking garage

The residents expressed strong support for the plans for a downtown area featuring restaurants, entertainment venues, shopping and other commercial uses, according to Cutts. He admitted that the 16 attendees representing commercial businesses did not voice strong support.

Because the property rights of those 16 attendees are in the way of economic progress in seattle, their rights are casually thrown away by the majority. This is not the land of the free anymore, maybe we should start making it the home of the brave again.

I thought most state legislatures passed new laws after Kelo. I guess not Washington. I hope they win, this is just theft of property.

This is pretty basic eminent domain stuff that has been going on for centuries, the taking of private property for public use. Based on the OP, this is nothing like what the City of New London did. At all.

The 5th Amendment reads in part, ".... nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

The article states, "City officials offered the Cassans $2 million less than they paid for the property two years ago because of declining property values."

That is definitely wrong. They should be offered what they paid plus a reasonable interest.

The majority can benefit without the private citizen suffering a loss.

When have you seen it regularly done that something was taken to build exactly the same thing?

I think you are just blathering.

The reality is, they want more money. Just like they wanted in New London.

Indeed. Eminent domain was to be used for such as hospitals, highways, etc. Not for cash in coffers. It was for public good, rare that it would be invoked.

it's only been done since the early 1900s, started in new york after they redefined 'public use'. maybe you should read the article again.

What happened to the rich having enough money and they should be willing to DONATE to others? :palm:

MY GOD MAN, think about all the people that will benefit from a larger parking area. :good4u:

Did I suggest that??

Please show me where I said that.

That's why I'm asking. You wrote, "And of course, you feel that way no matter how much money someone makes!!"

That sounds like you believe there should be a point where people stop paying taxes even though they are still getting income so I'm asking if that's the case.

That would seem to be your opinion and you're entitled to it, even though you're in error, as usual.
