Texas lawmakers illegally drew 3 voting districts on racial lines, court rules

Texas 02 is the definition of the word "gerrymandering." Crimes against geography. :D

I was responding to your comment why do we gerrymander at all.

because partisan morons like yourself continue to vote in people based on the party letter after their name instead of using their brains and principles.

I vote with the party that most aligns with most of my interests. Don't pretend you don't do the same. I bet any money you would never vote for a party that wanted more gun regulations. You're no different from anybody else.

Wiki says it better than me.

In the process of setting electoral districts, gerrymandering is a practice intended to establish a political advantage for a particular party or group by manipulating district boundaries. The resulting district is known as a gerrymander (/ˈdʒɛriˌmændər/); however, that word can also refer to the process. The term gerrymandering has negative connotations. Two principal tactics are used in gerrymandering: "cracking" (i.e. diluting the voting power of the opposing party's supporters across many districts) and "packing" (concentrating the opposing party's voting power in one district to reduce their voting power in other districts).[SUP][1][/SUP]

I understand what gerrymandering is. I'm asking about the VRA and the way the law requires certain voters be segmented

I don't.

You vote for your choices the same as everybody else.

There is nothing more pure or holy about what you do then anybody else.

watching liberals vote for obama over hillary because obama stated that she would do and say anything to get elected, then turn around and vote FOR her because she suddenly became the most qualified candidate ever......i'm betting that they still would have voted for hillary if bernie decided to run as a republican.

America as it is is currently a fascist dictatorship. At no level is the government representative of America or its people. We are not a democracy. We are not a republic. We are a fascist dictatorship.

do you realize that the districts didn't change between 12 and 16, though Demmycrats won in 12 and Republicans won in 16......obviously gerrymandering was not responsible for Trump winning Michigan......I dare bet the same is in Wisconsin....

Redistricting doesn't affect popular vote and, therefore, Electoral College.

obviously then, Chrispy was wrong......only in Nebraska and Maine would gerrymandering have an effect on the presidential election......

people vote differently for president and congress :) Look at the Trump election there are numerous examples of counties he did very well in but the GOP undercard barely won or counties where the GOP undercard won but Trump lost.
