Tesla Model 3 named winner in KBB’s 5-Year Cost to Own Awards 2022. MAGA wets panties

Just because you're stupid enough to present a luxury car award as proof of great affordability, don't blow me shit for pointing out your inexperienced idiocy.

I take LONG road trips ,for which EVs are USELESS, AT ANY COST...unless you like sitting for hours daily to recharge ,or being stranded with no charging stations nearby.

One of my not-so-bright democrat acquaintances couldn't make it from Brownsburg, In. to Columbus , OH. in one.

EVs are nothing more than a novelty, for URBAN ONLY errand runners; they have no place among real travelers.

Don't worry, Grokmasturbater. Maybe one day, if you work really hard, you'll be able to afford one.

Meh, maybe not. BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Don't want one; can't you read? Only idiots take EVs on REAL TRIPS.

IRRELEVANT TO THE IDIOCY OF YOUR OP....

Electrified trains are a form of EV, and are taken on hundreds of billions of trips a year. There is some neat overhead electrical systems that EVs can use while driving. They are perfect for long distance trips.

Solely battery powered EVs have had the problem that they work for 99% of drives, but are a problem in the trip to grandmother's house(over the river and through the woods). Many Americans buy a car for commuting, but also for the rare long distance trips. There is talk of possibly renting a car for long distance trips, but a full solution for Americans has not been developed... YET!!!

Worth remembering the same argument was used against ICE cars. They really were completely useless on long distance trips, when originally released. Things change.

EV electric wheelchairs like yours are actually very reasonable. BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Great take one to Texas and see how far you get.

Let's see... EV's...

Cost more than ICE vehicles and have shorter service lives.
Adding a charging station to your home to make charging in relatively short periods of time possible adds $1500 to $5000 to the cost of the vehicle
Insuring an EV costs more both due to its higher initial cost and its higher costs of repair
Recharging an EV at a public station is a hit-miss situation. You have no idea what a charge will cost or how long it might take.
Routine maintenance on EV's has proven to be higher than on an ICE vehicle both because of unreliability of many models and the fact that most EV manufacturers have made dealer servicing your only option (eg., no "Right to repair").

Do you own the software on your iPad? How about your desktop? Your cell phone?
I don't have an IPad and don't want one. I do own the software on my desktop. I built it...I installed it. A cell phone company that intentionally limits what the phone can do will not be in business long. Example: Microsoft.
Gee, all these things wrong with EVs.
Yup. There a lot of things wrong with EVs. If you want to pay a lot of money for a car that is impractical for long range driving, can easily catch fire while charging in your garage, can't tow anything, and you live in a place with insufficient electric power (like the EU or the SDTC), go ahead. Buy one.
I wonder why people are buying them up like crazy and EV sales are through the roof.
They aren't.
Something seems askew

EV sales in June hit Record high despite recession

Even as many markets around the world enter recession, electric vehicle sales had a record month in June.

CleanTechnica reported earlier today that EV sales spiked in June, showing once again that the car market has been unaffected by the recession in many parts of the world. The list of top-selling EVs and PHEVs is led by the Model Y and Model 3, a trend that is far from an isolated incident. The pair of Tesla mass-market vehicles were then followed by the Wuling Mini EV in third place.
I guess you don't bother to look what's on the road these days.

Electric Cars' Turning Point May Be Happening as U.S. Sales Numbers Start Climb
EVs are still far from mainstream, but a 60 percent rise in new-EV registrations is definitely a sign they're getting closer.

Mass-market EVs have been available in the U.S. for more than a decade, but there have only been small, incremental changes in electric car sales for most of that time.
However, in the first three months of 2022, EV registrations shot up a huge 60 percent even as the overall market was down 18 percent, according to a report by Automotive News.
With great U.S. EV sales comes great charging station responsibility, and figuring out how to offer public charging options to all of these early adopters is an ongoing concern.
Update (8/8/22): This piece now includes additional information related to electric car sales in the United States.

American car shoppers appear to have discovered electric vehicles. After a decade of slow but steady sales growth, electric vehicle registrations in the U.S. shot up 60 percent in the first quarter of 2022, even as overall new car registrations dropped 18 percent, per a report by Automotive News that used data collected by financial data firm Experian. It’s the latest indication that domestic EV acceptance may have turned some important but invisible corner recently.

Wishful thinking. You obviously don't look at what cars people are choosing to drive.

Global electric car sales have continued their strong growth in 2022 after breaking records last year

Electric car sales powered through 2021 and have remained strong so far in 2022, but ensuring future growth will demand greater efforts to diversify battery manufacturing and critical mineral supplies to reduce the risks of bottlenecks and price rises, according to the International Energy Agency.

Sales of electric cars (including fully electric and plug-in hybrids) doubled in 2021 to a new record of 6.6 million, with more now sold each week than in the whole of 2012, according to the latest edition of the annual Global Electric Vehicle Outlook. Despite strains along global supply chains, sales kept rising strongly into 2022, with 2 million electric cars sold worldwide in the first quarter, up by three-quarters from the same period a year earlier. The number of electric cars on the world’s roads by the end of 2021 was about 16.5 million, triple the amount in 2018.

In China, electric car sales nearly tripled in 2021 to 3.3 million, accounting for about half of the global total. Sales also grew strongly in Europe (increasing by 65% to 2.3 million) and the United States (more than doubling to 630 000). Chinese electric cars are typically smaller than in other markets. Alongside lower manufacturing costs, this has significantly reduced the price gap with traditional cars. The median price of an electric car in China was only 10% more than that of conventional offerings, compared with 45% to 50% on average in other major markets. By contrast, electric car sales are lagging in most emerging and developing economies where only a few models are often available and at prices that are unaffordable for mass-market consumers.

Still not looking at gasoline car sales, are ya?

Just because you can't afford one, don't take it out on me, Grokmasturbater.

Why would he want to pay so much money for a car that can't tow, has limited range, can catch fire easily in your garage while charging it, etc. I'm sure he's happy with the vehicle he decided to buy instead.

Total car sales worldwide last year amounted to 66.7 million...

No electric trains other than commuter trains, and they require power plants burning fuel to function.

Heh. I'd love to see one of those EV babies run go off road mudding!

Or drive to Crown King in Arizona...

Or deal with even a fraction of this. Imagine your Tesla battery underwater...

Given the shitty job they do sealing it up you are going to be fucked and $20,000 poorer getting another one...

Great take one to Texas and see how far you get.

I can currently take EVs (if you include electric trains) from London to Hong Kong with more ease than a ICE. Texas has lagged on electrifying rails, to its own cost. Europeans are shocked how much more it is to ship by train in the USA.
