Teen suicide attempts fell as same-sex marriage became legal

Your own article it doesn't prove a connection, Dick.

But if you want to believe it does, have at it. I'm tired of lying liberals and their fake news.

You need to understand that there could be a myriad of other factors.

It supports correlation which as I explained, is a connection of sorts by definition.

Sure, there could be other factors. Do you have anything to support another factor, perhaps something showing a correlation between this factor and teen suicide?

YaYa and Nova are morons. Yurt has not mastered it but Nova has learned to mouth phrases like "correlation is not causation." I am not sure either know what it means or that correlation can still be a quite significant finding. We did not fully understand the causal relationship when we found a strong correlation between smoking and lung cancer.

It's just a weird thing to go to the mat over.

It seems logical to me that it's helpful for gay youth that homosexuality isn't as frowned on and discriminated against in society, and that they can have a hope to live normal lives, like their heterosexual peers. Doesn't seem like a big leap to me.

It really cracks me up how crazy liberals have become since Trump won.

Here, we have an article that says there is no evidence of correlation, but maybe something to look into.

JPP liberals - look at this correlation and what is proves. Then you guys lie about what the author actually said.

Too funny.

What are you talking about? It absolutely provides evidence of correlation.

The study was published Monday in JAMA Pediatrics .

The researchers analyzed data on more than 700,000 public high school students who participated in government surveys on risky youth behavior from 1999 through 2015, the year the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage.

About 230,000 students reported being gay, lesbian or bisexual. The surveys didn't ask about transgender status. They included questions about suicide attempts, smoking and alcohol or drug use.

In 32 states that enacted same-sex marriage laws during the study, suicide attempts dropped 7 percent among all students and 14 percent among gay kids after the laws were passed. There was no change in suicide attempts in states without those laws.

That is correlation between passage of the laws and teen suicide rates.

Yeah, it certainly seems plausible. We know what isolation does to people.

What I said was 'cause and effect' not "correlation is not causation."
and we certainly DID find that smoke contains carcinogens which have a strong relationship in causing lung cancer....ie....tobacco in general and cigarettes in particular....

Not to mention, the article also noted the already strong correlation between homosexuality and teen suicide.

Is there any correlation between homosexuality and auto accidents, mushbrain?

Gay youth ? an interest choice of words......is that 16 years old ?....14 ? .... 12 ?.....
We have children as young as 7 and 8 that claim to be transsexual....are they mature enough at that stage in their lives to make that leap ?
To demand that they use any restroom they want to...to cross dress the way they want ?

Which basically implied... nevermind.

Yes, we later established the causal relationship but the finding of a correlation was still very important and excellent support for suspecting a causal relationship.

Still waiting for you to show this connection between same sex marriage and auto accidents.

I never claimed there was connection..its obvious, there is no connection.....

I said before that your claim is about as valid as that kind of claim would be..even though both are true, ie, auto deaths and same sex marriage...there is no connection

its nothing more than two unrelated facts.....

you do understand simple English, right ?

No, your claim is not as valid. There is some support for a connection or correlation here and apparently none for your claim.

An article in JAMA is a little more valid than some random assertion from a mushbrain that swears on the unquestioned authority of chainmail.
