Ted Kennedy, Still an embarresment to the country even in death

of course I called you a fool.....for denying that Congress authorized it and knowingly......this goes all the way back to my first post where I commented that you were thinking they authorized him to bake a cake instead of authorizing him to take military action.......your argument was stupid five pages ago, it's still stupid.....

Nah. You've spun the same web of relentless apologism as bravs & Alias. Bush was just a bystander to invasion; once Congress voted, the gears of war were in motion, and there was nothing he could do!

Accountability is a rough one for you righties. Bush misled Congress & the public on several important levels - and not just "the Dems." The only person who is wholly responsible for the decision to invade was the decider himself, who doesn't deny it. He made the call. It was his war.

I suppose you could argue that is what they said......if you were really stupid and didn't mind having what you claimed fall short of what everyone here can go back and read......

Bush made the decision, as approved by a majority of Congress.....QUOTE]

Here's a hint, PMP. People who don't feel obligated to apologize & cover for Bush have no problem saying "Bush made the decision."

What in the world does "as approved by a majority of Congress" mean in this context? The decision was approved by a majority of Congress? Bush didn't even consult with members of his own admin on the decision to invade, much less Congress.

It's apologist spin. And I never really understand what that obligation to Bush that you all feel is; even he doesn't make the arguments that you make.

It was intended, from the Democrat point of view, as a demonstration that the US was serious and to concentrate Iraqi minds. I notice that nobody has addressed the fact that the war was illegal under international law anyway.

No it wasn't.
When the "war" started, it was legit and when the cease fire was ended; it was still a legit war from when it began.

You idiots have no idea what a cease fire means or how it can be ended.

I don't even know what that phrase means. Bush made the decision, but only after Congress made the decision?

No, PMP. Nothing Congress did compelled a decision to invade. Bush MADE THE DECISION.

You sound like a typical dopey apologist. Bush didn't make the decision with Congress. He made it on his own - he's a big boy.

And now it boils down to what Onceler is really whining about and that is the word "compel"; which he has either neglected to bring up before, or else he just arrived at the idea of using it.

How could Bush mislead congress when many Democrat leaders were speaking of regime change and stopping Saddam's WMD program before Bush was President?

What you've been trying to explain to me? You called me a fool, and Alias said I had BDS, for saying that Bush made the decision to invade.

You're really gone, PMP. Apologism will do that to you.

No, that's a lie. I said you had BDS because you called the war "Bush's War". I'll help you keep your story straight.

Thats kinda funny....actually laughable....

Bush didn't consult his own administration or Congress about invading Iraq.....?
I guess we have to believe that Rumsfeld was surprised by the whole thing...
I guess poor VP Cheney was agast when he heard about the invasion....
and the majority in Congress didn't have a clue what they voted on....didn't know that "Authorization to Use Military Force" meant war.....a simple three letter word and they
didn't know the definition.....
Thats what onecell will have us believe....yet....
the lefties ranted and raved that Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld planed the whole Iraq War 4 seconds after Bush was inaugurated....how can both be true if Bush didn't consult anyone....

I guess BDS demands that whatever the pinheads say at any given moment is true....

Blix inspected Iraq in 1998 and found nothing....yet the Democrats ranted about Saddams WMD before, during and well after 1998...Clinton included...is that odd ?
Even after the Cole bombing, Dems ranted about Saddam but quotes about OBL were zero from those same Dems, but they say they were on top of the AQ situation..is that odd ?

But then....school was dismissed, so why continue...

Poor bravs. How can you even discuss this when you don't know a thing about the history?

"Richard Armitage, deputy secretary of state under Colin Powell, observes, “Never to my knowledge, and I’m pretty sure I’m right on this, did the President ever sit around with his advisors and say, ‘Should we do this or not?’ He never did it.” George J. Tenet of the CIA agrees. He wrote, “There never was a serious debate that I know of within the administration about the imminence of the Iraqi threat.” And again, based on conversations with colleagues, “In none of the meetings can anyone remember a discussion of the central questions. Was it wise to go to war? Was it the right thing to do?”

Well then .... that settles it.....Don Rumsfeld, the Sec. of Defense was in the dark about the pending Iraq war....
and
I guess poor VP Cheney was agast when he heard about the invasion....
and
and the majority in Congress didn't have a clue what they voted on....they must have been scratching their collective heads when they
read that resolution title....."Authorization to Use Military Force"

Come to think of it...there were some democrats that did claim they were clueless about the vote.....they probably thought they were voting on
the flavor or ice cream that was being served with their cookies and milk....

That GW Bush sure knew how to keep a secret, didn't he....

Thanks for that .... the history is clear now.....

LOL - that didn't even come close to saving face.

Haven't you been served up enough humiliation for one thread, old timer? It's amazing how quickly you can dismiss the head of the CIA & Deputy SOS...yeah, I'm sure they knew nothing about what went on w/ regard to foreign policy.

They were in the dark too.....???

Tenet did say something about a "slam dunk" didn't he.....

And Armitage was busy telling the press the names of CIA spies so guys like Scooter Libby could go to jail for it....
