Tebow Superbowl Ad...Maybe

Tebow is a Jesus freak and would turn off lots of people.
I could care less if it airs, I take a shit while he's pretending on tv.

His dad is a pastor. For better or worse Tebow's not going to change to try to earn more money. Plus how do you think Urban recruits half his players, 'God has a vision for you to be at UF.'

I don't recall Jesus freak adds during the superbowl. They may have them I just don't recall.

He doesn't hide his Christian beliefs. This could just bolster him with that group which might lead to more ad offers than he would have before.

As I was reading through the thread, I was thinking the same thing. Mott has his brain on backwards!

Tim Tebow is "wholesome" like Peyton Manning... he is a "golden boy" and has that nice well-mannered demeanor. Generally speaking, he is a likable guy with a fairly decent mug, so he will have all kinds of endorsements from brands looking for that image. He is also Family/Christian oriented, and those attributes only enhance his possibilities. Endorsers would never reject him because he was too Family/Christian oriented, but others might actually pick him over someone else because of that.

Tebow is like a jehovas witness!!!! You can't slam the door fast enough on that fundementalist Christian fanatic.

You're right, it will and if they do want it to run, well it's just not good business sense.

I think that will depend on how the ad is presented. If it comes out talking about CHOICE and why his mom is glad she CHOSE to keep her child despite the potential risk to herself, then what is wrong with that? The so called 'pro choice' crowd would be idiots to oppose an add that talked about the OTHER choice a woman can make.

If they come out talking about 'abortion is murder and if you kill your kid, you are going to hell'... then that would likely detract from future endorsement opportunities.

He will be picked first round by Jacksonville!!!

I believe it when I see it.

LMAO... if anyone takes Tebow in the first round they are morons. He is in no way ready to be a QB in the NFL. His technique is horrid. Jacksonville can likely pick him up in the 2nd if they want him for purposes of selling seats to moronic Gator fans.

The above is the real reason toppy no likey the weeper Tebow... especially that 2008 ass whipping Tebow handed the over-rated LSU pansies.

Amen! :clink:

That's why I can't stand Bob Costas from NBC. That short little motor mouth is always bringing politics into sports and I hate it. Sports are supposed to unite communities, not divide them.

So look the other way or turn down the volume.

I like Tebow, and have no problem whatsoever w/ the ad. I don't get why people are upset about it.

It has been awhile since a competitor & leader like Tebow has come out of the college ranks. Unfortunately, his mechanics are awful, and he almost seems destined to fail in the NFL. I read a scout yesterday who said that you'd have to start from scratch with him, and basically teach him a whole new style of play for him to even have a chance to do well....

The fact that people are upset before even seeing the content of the ad is what makes it funny. To clarify... I am speaking of those who call Tebow a 'jesus-freak' etc...

I do understand why some on the left may be opposed to the ad on the grounds that CBS denied a left leaning political ad a few years ago.

Tebow is not likely to succeed as a QB in the NFL. If he could add about 20 pounds and maintain his speed, I could see him being a Dallas Clark type TE.

.

From what I have read, the ad is pretty much exactly what I (as a pro-choicer) would love to see the pro-life movement focus on - encouraging women who are considering abortion to opt against it and give birth. People on both sides are too knee-jerk; there is nothing wrong with discouraging abortion as a practice. I greatly prefer that to efforts that would either legally restrict access to it or are intended to overturn Roe....

That is also my understanding of the focus of the ad. Which is exactly what I would think pro-choice people would indeed approve of from their opponents (as you mentioned you do).

YUP!

I heard it emphises the CHOICE that his mother made.

Keep it legal but encourage women to, and support women who do CHOOSE life!

The reason I didn't like him is because he is all we heard from the end of the 2008 SEC Championship until the following year in the same game.

The man was an amazing college QB. But the media frenzy that surrounded him was annoying.

But since Dec 5th 2009, I don't mind him so much. :cof1:

The Florida hype machine is a fine one indeed. It was pretty eye openening how weak he looked at the Senior bowl and how badly Todd McShay ripped his skills.
