Roy Moore did not retired. He was fired. The Alabama Court of the Judiciary saw that Moore would not change and would not admit that what he did was wrong. So after the COJ issued a unanimous opinion ruling that "Chief Justice Moore has violated the Alabama Canons of Judicial Ethics" they removed him from office.
