Tea Parties defame the memory of our founding fathers.

The Boston Tea Party was about taxation without representation... not about whining about paying ones share.

I find it embarrasing to see Americans using the memory of these great men as an excuse to whine about paying there part.

typical single thought processing liberal. These protests were about more than just taxes. They were also about corporate welfare, class warfare, and overspending in general.

I realize that your small liberal mind is probably incapable of more than one thought at a time, so go real slow and process that.

If you disagree with the tea parties, thats fine. But if you are going to claim they defame the memory of our founding fathers, at least get the reasons for the tea parties right.
 
I think the protests, at least the ones shown on the news I watched (local CBS), were indeed about taxation without representation. Sure we get a lot from our taxes: Roads, benefits for some that need them and such, but there is a lot of waste and therein is the "without representation" part. Certainly what I saw was valid and not "disrespectful" at all.

But they have representation. They just don't like the representation. Elections have consequences. This isn't Little League. There are losers. The tea party nitwits lost and are now pitching a collective hissy fit. And that's fine, but lets not pretend that there is some noble cause here other than sour grapes after a resounding electoral defeat.

I saw far more protest against the generational mortgage at the one in Denver than against taxation itself.

I don't think it is so much the election itself with a lot of folks (with the exception of the nutty lady who wished Bush was still in office) as to the choices in the election. Most folks (like me) were disgusted at the two it came down to, neither of which would give us the representation we desired. And by the time a lot of us get to vote in the primaries the choice has been made for us so that our vote then really doesn't matter.

Which was the point. You have problems extending logic from a basic point to a level that has nothing to do with dyslexia. They are protesting the policy that will lead us down that path.

Like I said, they (and you) have representation, you just don't like it. And forgive me if I believe that if John McCain were president these tea parties would never have happened.

true, but in my opinion they are corrupting one of the great stories of our nations foundation by calling it a tea party.

Ok, it is my opinion that giving $3.8 million for Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy is waste. Especially in the current economic situation.

It is also my opinion that giving $1.9 million for the Pleasure Beach water taxi service in Connecticut is wasteful as hell.




And since you bring up opinion, these protestors were out expressing their opinion about the situation.
 
jarod might have a point if people were actually claiming the tea parties are exactly like the one's our founding fathers were involved in. it is a logical extension to use the term as the protest about taxes. one does not have to be smarter than a fifth grader to see some similarity.

whats funny is the liberals extreme fear of these tea parties. i mean what exactly is wrong with their message? i haven't seen a single that both parties should disagree with....stop excessive spending, stop unlimited spending, stop raising taxes....

i guess liberals love unlimited spending and raising taxes...

So you have a problem with the name of the protests, but not with the waste, or with the protests themselves?
