Tax reform is needed

I'm saying any major tax reform is going to help/hurt the rich the most because they pay the most.

But if you are arguing we need a plan that benefits the middle class and isn't a give away to the rich what would that entail?

we go back to what worked GREAT in the past

the rich taxed at a MUCH HIGHER LEVEL

the majority of americans dont take the salt deduction. 70% of Americans use standardized deductions so they dont apply the salt deduction. Only the richest 30% itemize. I thought you did not want the tax reform to benefit them?

"Only the richest 30% itemize?" Documentation?

I itemize and I'm surely not in the richest thirty percent of Americans, in fact, I know few people who don't itemize

Well, we can certainly start w/ NOT eliminating the state tax. The main benefit for that goes to those w/ over $11 million. That, to me, signals the intention of this plan more than anything.

The whole plan itself is a revisit of trickle-down. A plan that helps the middle class but is not an inordinate giveaway to the rich is just that - I'm not sure what you're asking.

I'm confused by your comment on state tax deduction on federal returns. The benefit currenty goes to the wealthy in high tax states. You're saying it doesn't?

and with this new plan you won't itemize,

would you bother to read what he is proposing instead of flapping your gums as if you know what you're talking about.

Um...more benefits to the middle class, and less of a giveaway to the rich? Increase things like the child tax credit, EITC & tuition credits. Raise the level of income for minimal or zero tax burden.

Like I said in another post, I completely reject the notion that the ONLY way to help the middle class is by giving the wealthiest a huge giveaway. It's trickle down. Been there.

You still haven't told us why you support auditing a couple of trillion to our debt!!

you still havn't told us why you are suddenly worried about our debt.

the 2 trillion estimate is over ten years, that's 200 billion a year,

Your butt buddy Obama added over 9 trillion in just 8 years, over a trillion a year every year
confused yet?

She gargles with glue, so she thinks she's found something else to blame Trump for that hasn't even happened yet.

https://taxfoundation.org/who-itemizes-deductions/

According to the most recent IRS data, for the 2013 tax year,

30.1 percent of households chose to itemize their deductions (44 million returns).
68.5 percent of households chose to take the standard deduction (101 million returns).
1.6 percent of households had zero or negative adjusted gross income, and were unable to take any deductions. (2 million returns)

The IRS data shows a clear trend: the higher a household’s income, the more likely it is to itemize deductions. Only 6.0 percent of tax returns with under $25,000 in income chose to itemize deductions in 2013. On the flip side, 93.5 percent of tax returns with over $200,000 in income were itemizers.

if you have any more recent data please post it.

Is that actual tax reform? It's just wealth transfer. That isn't to say all wealth transfer is bad. The EITC is a wealth transfer to people who work rather than just straight welfare. Education credits for school choice is another excellent program.

But many people agree a simplification in our system is needed. Now coming to an agreement on how to do is hard and we haven't had it done since '86 but just as we change laws to keep up with the times the tax code isn't all that different.

You realize that there is a lot of other stuff that contributes to the debt, right?

Current estimates are that Trump will add $5.5 trillion in 4 years.

And wasn't he going to eliminate it or something? I was gonna be so easy...
