Tax junk food, drinks to fight child obesity-report

Clearly there's something wrong with conservatives in the head when they think they're entitled to the roads to get to work, the safety standards that keep their food safe, the telephone lines that allow them to go on the internet and rail against paying taxes, and the military that keeps them free but they shouldn't have to contribute to them.

more people die on the roads than ever before, ecoli instances continue to rise, utility costs are out of control due to profiteering encouraged by government agencies, and we wouldn't need a military if people would get a gun, learn how to use it, and stop being a coward.

Orly. So roads were bad because there are accidents? And you really want to make the case that there's more ecoli in your food now than before the FDA was formed?

By the way, government agencies do no profiteer. They do not operate on a for-profit basis. The private sector profiteers. If you want to see utilities go fucknuts, take government regulation out of the equation.

"The American Beverage Association, representing companies including PepsiCo (PEP.N), Coca-Cola Co (KO.N) and Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc (DPS.N), says sugar-sweetened drinks do not pose a particular health risk."

That is quite comical. Thanks for the laugh.

i'm talking about this particular tax....not all taxes

Personally I believe they should indeed tax junk food, soda, fast food more. This is a way to offset the health care cost increases we see from people eating/drinking that crap. We tax alcohol and tobacco for the same reason.

like a total obtuse retard, you failed to see the point, which is that regulation did not make things safer.

1) if government agencies do not profiteer, explain the drug war, then explain why their budgets go up every single year.

2) texas residents just got stuck with a 90 million dollar bill for the mistake of a regulated utility company and the government agency is the one that stuck it to us. that's what your government regulation does idiot.

Not a sin... a health risk. If we are not going to charge fat out of shape people more for their health care directly, then lets target the crap that helped them get/stay fat. The more obese our society is, the greater the health care risks and the associated costs will be.

That's true, but puttin higher taxes on so-called sin-food, will not work. They will get them anyway.

Soldier 1: So what are we dying for this time?
Soldier 2: Fast food taxes
Soldier 1: Seriously?
Soldier 2: Yes. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Soldier 1: Wow... just wow...

what? so the answer to tax people? shit, why don't we just make all drugs legal and tax them.....

please point out where in the constitution such a tax is permitted....

Does the constitution prohibit those types of taxes?
It does not have to say you can.

If not prohibited by the constitution you can.

I think we should tax junk food to pay for healthcare.

You realize we have sales taxes on goods right now do you not? You realize we tax gasoline, alcohol, tobacco and use part of the taxes to offset other expenses right?
