A Russian-backed proposal that would see Syrian President Bashar Assad surrender his chemical weapons stockpile to international custody has been panned by Salim Idriss, the head of the Syrian opposition’s Supreme Military Council.

“We announce our definitive rejection of the Russian initiative to place chemical weapons under international custody,” said Idriss, in a video posted online.

There's strong word that diverting weaponry to the Syrian rebels was the purpose of the Benghazi State Department facility. CIA Agents involved are receiving regular polygraph tests to prevent them from blabbing what was going on there.

This amounts to a replay of Iran-Contra, which so outraged the Democrats at the time. The only difference now is a news media running interference to the truth and a Congress cowed into submission.

I don't disagree with any of that .. but this war will soon be over regardless of what America does. Obama and Kerry have been outsmarted by Putin, and the only option they have left is to ignore Congress, the UN, and the world to launch a military strike in Syria. I don't think Obama has the balls to do that.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Mike Rogers said Monday that his panel agreed to the administration's plan for military aid despite reservations about its chances for success.
"After much discussion and review, we got a consensus that we could move forward with what the administration's plans and intentions are in Syria consistent with committee reservations," the Michigan Republican said.
