Syria v. Iraq

I have a question for anyone who supported GWB's request for authorization to go to war in Iraq but is opposed to BHO's request for authorization to bomb Syria.

Considering that the case against Syria breaking international law is better than that against Iraq and that the scope of the mission in Syria is not even in the same ball park as the request regarding Iraq why?

Have you learned a lesson?
Am I missing something?
Do you simply enjoy opposing President Obama?
What's the deal?

I don't believe all of those folks are now opposing President Obama's request regarding Syria, but to the ones that are... Id like to know why.

Why would anyone assume that the case is any better for Syria? Do we have real proof that is acceptable to the international community yet?

We don't and that tells us all we need to know. It's not that many countries were fooled before and don't want to be fooled again. It's because the proof is not there and the balance of evidence still tells us that it wasn't Assad using gas.

The US needs to furnish 'proof' that is real plausible proof and not the kind of proof that is only plausible to just Americans who are eager and willing to swallow the spoonfed lies of the propagandists who need war for political and economic reasons.

Alas, will America need to step over the heads of the rest of the world and the Security Council to get it's war?

I can never understand why people pretend that Bush didn't lie to congress too.

they were given FIXED intell just like us joe doaks were dudes

So your saying that the proof is just as bad for Syria as it was for Iraq? I disagree, but let me ask you did you support the Iraq invasion?

So it appears that a bunch of you guys are too embarrassed to admit you fall into the category of having supported invading Iraq while opposing bombing Syria...

I understand I would be also.

Saddam was using gas attacks on the Kurds and Iranians....whats the difference ?....he was as bad a despot as Assad...I'd say worse...with him throwing is opposition
off rooftops and his sons raping new brides for fun....even Assad isn't doing those kinds of things that I've heard about.....
And Saddam had the power of his oil to put pressure western economy......Assad's got nothing to interest us....let 'em kill each other, I won't lose any sleep over it.

Bombing Syria could give Obama a place in history that no one will ever forget....the man that started World War III....a new and lasting legacy.

Most people are just war-weary, Jarod. Personally, I don't have a problem with the case Obama is making - I'm just unsure another military matter on our plate will be all that manageable.

My stance on Syria is the same as I took toward Obama on Egypt or Libya. I neither oppose nor support hide case, and am willing to go in either direction.

1) Saddam had used gas something like 15 years before we invaded.
2) You supported a boots on the ground invasion, but are opposing a few missiles?
3) So if Assad had oil, you would support an invasion?

And your position on Iraq was?

I supported it. Aside from all of the supposed Intel, I thought regime change throughout the ME (to include Syria) was the only way to help combat the problem of radical Islam. Also, my compassion for Arabs living under tyrants was far greater 10 years ago.
