Suspect ARRESTED... this is breaking fast.

I woke up, made the mistake of turning on the TV and can't possibly get back to sleep.

This is incredible.

Well it turns out that it was Chechen terrorist. WTF? What did we ever do to Chechnya?

The Chechen terrorists are Muslims. Many have been killed or captured in Afghanistan. They are nasty little bastards who just want to kill infidels, and they don't really care where they do it.

These guys have been in the US for 10 years. It's a bit of a stretch to call a 19 year old who spent the bulk of his life in the US a Chechen terrorist.

Looks like a combination of disaffected young men and extremist Muslim ideology on the older brother's part.

The fact that they are Chechen is not the point. That is simply where they are from. The important thing is that they are Muslims. Nasty, insane radicalised Muslims at that.

The only thing in your post falls in between "that is simply where they are from" and "Nasty, insane radicalized Muslims at that".

Probably 10% of Muslims are the "Nasty, insane radicalized" ones. I don't paint us Christians with the ones that belong to white supremist groups, snake handlers and if course, Westboro.... I know that there's many different types of Christians...liberal ones, like myself, authoritarian fundamentalists, all shapes and sizes of Christians.

Why is it that we expect others not to paint us with a broad brush, but many of us have no problem doing the same to others.

Why is it that we can mention how disgusting the Christians at Westboro church are, but can't mention that these people are Muslims?

Please.

No one ascribes the actions of Westboro to the rest of Christianity.

But whenever there is a terrorist incident from a Muslim, the whole religion gets impugned. You know this. Please do not be obtuse.

Because when people mention Westboro...they aren't applying their actions to the entire religion like you guys tend to do.

Bull, people do it all the time. Posts on this very site sometimes are "This is how Christians act"...

I think that you believe that any mention of the reason that they bombed impugns the whole religion. I believe that is where we should start to act, and have. Clinton, Bush, Obama, all make it clear that there is a difference between the radicalized Muslims and all Muslims.

However, the "fix" isn't to stop mentioning the reason why they bombed something and killed people, it is to better educate people on the fact that most Muslims, like most Christians, would never act this way.

Why do we speculate that this may be Muslim terror? For the same reason others speculated it may have been Tim McVeigh "patriots" that may have done it, because it very well may have been either.

Honestly, you've lost your mind. I have never heard anyone argue seriously that "this is how Christians act" about Westboro. Maybe you can find one crazy post like that, but to even suggest that it approaches what we routinely hear about Islam after incidents like this is preposterous.

As for education, that's all fine & good, but your posts today do nothing but enable the bigots. I'd love to hear how many time a Chrisitan hears calls to "go back home" after a Westboro incident, or how many Christian businesses get targeted after a Westboro incident, or how many "religion of peace & understanding" threads get started right here on JPP after a Westboro incident.

No one ascribes the actions of Westboro to Christianity - certainly not seriously. What a ridiculous comparison.

Damo has gone full right wing whack and is very addicted to the victim role. In fact, I bet he is going to convert to Christianity so he can get his full victim on.

Im with Damocles here, not all Muslams are terrorists but some of those who have gotten the most attention and attacked America of late were. Its okay to talk about it. It does not mean you belive all of Islam is evil.

First off, to claim that no one slanders the entire Christian faith like they do the Muslims is simply ignoring the facts on this site.

Now, it does not happen with near the frequency or as vehemently as the anti-Islam posts do, but it certainly happens.

I went to the advanced search feature on here and limited it to thread titles and searched for "Christian". On the first page alone I found these jewels:

http://www.justplainpolitics.com/sh...an-destroys-more-lives...&highlight=christian

http://www.justplainpolitics.com/sh...istian-quot-kindness-quot&highlight=christian

All of those involved a single individual doing something wrong.

I can't speak for Zappa, but my impression of those threads is that they are created more to make fun of those who start threads about Islam.
