After CNN threatened to release the personal information of the man who originally shared the hilarious Trump vs. CNN wrestling video, some are now saying that the cable “news” network may have committed a crime.
CNN threatened to “dox” the guy who shared the video unless he apologized for releasing the thing.
“Doxing” means that CNN threatened to release all the guy’s personal documents, or “docs,” like his name, address, phone number, and whatever other personal information they feel like releasing.
after posting his apology, “HanA**holeSolo” called CNN’s KFile and confirmed his identity. In the interview, “HanA**holeSolo” sounded nervous about his identity being revealed and asked to not be named out of fear for his personal safety and for the public embarrassment it would bring to him and his family.
That last bit sure sounds like a threat, doesn’t it?
The Georgia statute that Cruz cited says that it is a crime to “Disseminate any information tending to subject any person to hatred, contempt, or ridicule or to impair his credit or business repute,” and to use that information to try and force someone to act in the criminal’s favor.
