NFL games are clearly rigged. Here's how.

The NFL makes contradictory rules, i.e. rules that establish the objective of the game, as well as countless corresponding rules that bar the pursuit of those objectives. Football players are penalized for tackling the opponent with the ball; the referees simply pick one of the many rules that prohibit the way football players may tackle the opponent with the ball ... and those prohibitions are thorough enough to cover all possibilities. That's just one example. Football players can be penalized for making a successful play; their success can be flaggeg as "taunting". The rule book is a complete tool box for the referees to negate any play and replace it with a 15-yard penalty. The rule book is more than enough to empower the referees to throw the game, and to say "My job is to throw the game enforce the rules."

When you see flags flying every down, you know that the NFL commissioner has a bet on the game and has let the head referee know to inform his team.

That's how I feel about the NFL now. Nowadays, whenever I do watch some of it, I just watch it with family (if there's nothing better on TV) and bond over making fun of it.

Me too. I was a fan of "my team" (the Packers) back when Brett Favre was their QB. It was SO much fun to watch him play and to see his passion for the game.

Now, I really don't "root for" anybody, or even take the NFL seriously anymore, due to the (my opinion) "rigged" nature of it that I've noticed ever since the 2009 NFL season when the NFL kept hyping up Hurricane Katrina (even though it happened four years before then) and the Saints just so happened to conveniently win the SB that year (and that's the only year that they've ever won a SB).

I can't get into soccer. I find it to be incredibly boring. I suspect that the overall pace is too slow for me and that there isn't enough scoring occurring for the long amount of time that the games last.

Exactly. Another manner that the games are "rigged" is regarding what the consequences are for each subjectively-defined and inconsistently-applied penalty.

For example, "holding" occurs on every single play (or none of the plays, depending on how one chooses to look at it). If a particular offense has been hot and the NFL commissioner has money on the defensive team, then the head referee starts calling "offensive holding" penalties out of nowhere in order to stall out the hot offense's drive.

In a likewise manner, if the NFL commissioner instead has money on the offensive team and they can't get a drive going to save their lives, then the head referee starts calling "defensive holding" (automatic first down) and "defensive pass interference" (a shit ton of yards at once) penalties in order to literally pull the stagnant offense down the field into scoring position.

Those three penalties in particular (offensive holding, defensive holding, and defensive pass interference) are the most popular tools at the NFL's disposal for manipulating the outcome of games. There's all sorts of other tools too (taunting, etc), but those seem to have the most "grey area" and affect on points scored or not scored.

They could correct any "mistake" if they wanted to, but they purposely choose not to. In fact, there's some rules that ban correcting certain "referee mistakes".
 
A Superbowl is like a pizza, even a bad one is better than no pizza. IMHO, it was the most boring Superbowl of my lifetime, but it's still better than watching tennis.

If the NFL hadn't sabotaged the game entirely, you and I would be ribbing rivals, i.e. I would mock the Packers and Favre for being whining sissies, and you would mock the Raiders for ... being the Raiders.

QUESTION: How can you tell when the Raiders' kicker is going to make his field goal attempt?
ANSWER: When the Raiders have 1st and goal on the two-yard-line.

QUESTION: How does the Broncos defense push the line of scrimmage back 40 yards?

My issue is the NFL's attempts to legitimize punishing and fining players for their personal lives, and then virtue-signalling about it. It's like they are a wholly owned subsidiary of the DNC. They pretend to be policing personal lives as the morality police, and then push deviant and criminal behavior.

I can't support them.

I get it. You didn't play competitively, I imagine.

The magical thing about soccer is the prohibition against using the hands and arms. This forces teamwork to be the major factor to winning instead of individual talent, as is the case in most other sports.

This makes watching soccer (for those who are studying the play as opposed to being bored by the relative struggle to simply control the ball) a fascinating analysis of the teamwork and how they utilize the talents of the individual players.

It's not the pace. It's simply the matter of interest. I'm guessing you like to see more of the game dedicated to direct competition without worrying about controlling the ball ... although in football, the occasional fumble is exciting, ... but you'd get bored if that's all it was.

Have you ever watched indoor soccer? There is a lot of scoring in that. The reason: indoor soccer doesn't have any offside rule to completely kill the game. If FIFA would eliminate the offside rule, it would Make Soccer Great Again. With the offside rule, however, goals are put on a Canadian healthcare waiting list.
