That's what I thought.

A completely, utterly unscientific conclusion, based on partisanship.

It's just as valid if I say that suicides are up because Trump caused millions of jobs to be lost, inspired an insurrection and is the frontrunner for the GOP nomination now. I think that has caused many to lose hope & faith in America.

See how easy that is?

I don't have enough data and information to make an intelligent hypothesis on why MAGA states are more likely to be suicidal.

A lot of it has to do with access to mental health care. Rural areas just don’t have that. Toss in feelings of being more isolated in rural areas, leading to increased depression.

Plus, the stigma of admitting one needs that help. MAGAs, the “rugged individuals” are less likely to do so.

Ready access to guns. Guns make suicide easier and more likely to succeed than other methods.

Now, toss in alcohol abuse.

Wrong. Rates are highest in the most rural areas of the country with the least population per square mile. The only really noticeable exceptions to that are New Mexico and Colorado, solidly blue states.
