Suicides in the U.S. reached all-time high in 2022, CDC data shows
About 49,449 people took their own lives last year, an estimated 3% increase compared to 2021, according to provisional findings from U.S. death certificates.

About 49,500 people took their own lives last year in the U.S., the highest number ever, according to new government data posted Thursday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which posted the numbers, has not yet calculated a suicide rate for the year, but available data suggests suicides are more common in the U.S. than at any time since the dawn of World War II.

“There’s something wrong. The number should not be going up,” said Christina Wilbur, a 45-year-old Florida woman whose son shot himself to death last year.

There is no growing availability of guns, we already have more guns than people in the nation, they can't become more available then they already are.

Anyone can get one whether legally or illegally.

Seems significant that the lowest suicide rates are in California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York.

I haven't heard of many people killing themselves with semi-automatic rifles using high ammo capacity.

Usually it's a revolver or a shotgun.

Remember, we are talking suicide here, it only takes one shot.
 
There are some great responses on this thread, which completely debunk the flawed conclusion of the OP.

And it is a flawed conclusion - some might call it lazy. It shows no causality, and doesn't address the myriad of factors that may be behind a stat like this.

A thread like this just says "I hate Biden," but proves nothing.
