I have found this quote illuminating in understanding why people respond (almost always very emotionally) to criticisms of the establishment narrative about COVID the way they do.

Their response (and my old response, like theirs) is/was an attempt to vanquish what they see as “evil”. This battle against evil overrides the need to protect or look for truth.

A scientific discussion from this point of view is an idle luxury. Those who would prioritize scientific discussion have misplaced priorities.

This is their point of view. I understand it but don’t agree.

I think we should always prioritize scientific discussion so that we can ensure that in our fight against “evil”, we do not create bigger evils!

Lo and behold, during the pandemic when we bypassed impartial scientific discussion to fight “evil”, sometimes we did indeed create bigger evils. Prolonged school closures was undoubtedly one of these.
