study shows austerity is a historcially failed idea

I can't speak for other states but in California we have a state income tax, we pay property taxes, we pay sales taxes, there are business taxes.

Does California have the money all on it's own to cover massive infrastructure upgrades?

Yeah....exactly....they can't afford it either...So...what's worse? Your Federal taxes getting raised a little, it your state taxes going through the roof?
whats worse? that they are both going up i'm sure. but what the hell, most everybody is used to this nanny shit anyway, so whats another trillion in debt, right? think that the bank would let me extend my home loan by another 100k per year if I promise to pay next year?

There is no austerity in the US; even the "sequester" is not austerity. Only in the perverted liberal mind does lowering projected increases constitute a "cut."

I'm so old I remember when Republicans championed the 1990s spedning cuts which consisted of spending less than projected increases. While many of the Republicans in Congress at the time were indeed perverted, I don't know that they can fairly be called liberal.

Fuck....let's kick it down to the local level and really see them skyrocket.

At least that money would be controlled and spent locally...not sent to Washington and wind up 2000 miles away in some other state
and local pols would be held to account for their decisions....

Perhaps the infrastructure 2000 miles away is at crisis level and needs the attention first.... besides....depending on where one lives....your state may get more help than it puts in. The most populous states tend to carry the least populous for the simple reason that they don't have the tax revenue to do much.

Fair enough, both sides play that game.

Cutting everything without raising revenue is what almost killed the European economy.

LMAO... except they didn't really cut anything... they did what the US did, spent a lot in 2009 due to the worldwide crisis, then continued spending at those emergency levels and pretended that the emergency level spending was the new 'base' spending. How many countries in Europe are spending below 2008 levels?

The European bashing if fucking hillarious!
Bet you clowns (read poor rightwingers) don't know that Italy, France and Spain have way more average family wealth.
