Student-Loan Debt Is Strangling Gen X

Tuition has skyrocketed because the schools know student loan money is there to tap into.

Personally I think the government needs to make a QUALITY free online four year University. Students could attend for free as long as they maintained a 3.0 average. That way if you are smart and live in a remote town you have access to an upper education. I'd also require that schools that took federal funds would be required to accept the first two years for students that want to transfer. It could basically cut the cost of a college degree to almost zero or cut it in half if you transfer to another university after your first 2 years of online work.
I know some places offer free community college, which I don't think is too far off what you are saying. It still requires a hefty amount of funding but there is a track record for it.

The government should buy an online college then expand it as needed. What I like is if someone in Wyoming in a remote town they could live at home and go to college.

I'm early X though. I graduated from WSU in 1990.
I went through the Navy path. I graduated HS in 1988, went in the Navy and in 1992 went to college. I graduated in 1996. Almost all of my college had been handled through testing while I was in the Navy, so it was cheap and mostly paid for by the available funds for folks that were in the military. Any debt I incurred I paid for before Y2K.

So, socialized education.

Earned. If I didn't do things I would not get it. This is something earned, not just given. If it was "socialized" the funds would be available to folks that didn't to the same things.
Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer paid for your education.

Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer paid for your education.
Rubbish. Only in the same manner that Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer paid for the education of folks at a company that offers a similar benefit because they bought stuff.

It is earned. If you take a job and part of the benefits are matching funds for education, that is part of your earned benefits, not "socialism"...

Socialism doesn't care if you do something for that money, you don't earn it. There is a massive difference between these two things.

So, you deserve socialism and other do not?
