Derek Simmons said he too was struck by how strangers came together on the beach.
“That was the most unbelievable part for myself was to see all different nationalities, people that doesn’t speak the same language, races, shape, size, religion, it didn’t matter at that point,” he said.

Our altruism and instinct to help one another are huge parts of our evolutionary advantage. Without those, we would have been toast amid all of the claws, fangs & superior physical adaptations.

outstanding.. Florida has awful rip-currents,but the Continental shelf is a very slow slope
so they were able to link up to the human chain without being swamped.. awesome awareness there.
 
Where was the government? Why wasn't the government there to insure their safety and spread the risk?
