Stop SOPA!

Your boy and likely VP canidate Marco Rubio (R) (FL) was Co-Sponsor of PIPA.

Before Wednesday's protests, PIPA had 16 Republican co-sponsors and 23 Democratic ones. The bill lost a quarter of its Republican co-sponsors on Wednesday, while we know of only one Democrat, Ben Cardin (D-MD), who dropped his support.

A whip count by OpenCongress found 35 supporters (including 34 co-sponsors), 18 opponents, and 12 more Senators leaning toward opposition. About 35 Senators have not committed to a position, perhaps reluctant to do so for fear of angering either deep-pocketed Hollywood campaign contributors or their constituents back home.

clearly you have not done your research. only a mouth breather would support sopa. either that or you like corporate dick in your mouth. Look at even this site, bi partisan opposition.
clearly your a douche stealing songs and movies off the net Junior

Democrats are in the pocket of the MPAA and Hollywood. Unfortunately, the Republicans haven't taken advantage of the opportunity to be strong proponents of intellectual property reform and protection of open internet. It's be nice if they did. Then we wouldn't have to deal with this bi-partisan bullshit.

I do not support laws that attempt to monitor piracy- they will not work. I do think it is stealing to download pirated material that have copyright licensing.

THANKS for proving yet again your an uneducated moron. Stealing is stealing GED buy, hiding behind the internet just means your gay too.

Not really. If I steal your car, I have deprived you of the use of your car. If you upload a song to the internet and I download a copy, I haven't deprived you of the use of anything. Of course, it could be argued that I am stealing money from the person who wrote the song, but this assumes that I would otherwise have actually purchased the song, which may or may not be the case. Likewise, if you burn a copy of the song to a CD and give it to me, have I stolen anything? Haven't we deprive the artists of that same income?

Stealing is stealing- To download copyrighted material or to burn copyrighted material is stealing, if done so, without the owners permission.

Just saying it is stealing because you said so doesn't make it stealing. Who is being stolen from and what is being stolen from that person?

Rights of Copyright Owners

The U.S. Copyright Law is designed to encourage the development of the arts and sciences by protecting the creative work of the individuals in our society—composers, authors, poets, dramatists, choreographers and others. The law deals first with the exclusive rights belonging to the owner of a copyright (which may be the composer or, if a deal has been cut, a publisher). These are things that only copyright holders can do—unless they grant specific permission to others.

These rights, as stated in the law and relating to materials likely to be used by music teachers, are:

  1. To reproduce the copyrighted work in copies or recordings
  2. To prepare derivative works (e.g., arrangements) based upon the copyrighted work
  3. To distribute copies or recordings of the copyrighted work to the public (mostly by sale, but also by rental or other methods)
  4. To perform the work publicly
  5. To perform the copyrighted work publicly by means of a digital audio transmission

Copyright licensing law- read it.

Yes, heaven forbid that you would actually have to explain why you think it is stealing. Here's another question for you: if I make you a mixtape of cheesy 80's love songs from my collection of soft jam CDs as a token of my appreciation, have I stolen anything? Have you accepted stolen goods?

Um, I am aware of copyright law. I don't view violations of copyright law by downloading music as "stealing." You do. I'm trying to figure out why you think so.

And, by the way, you just stole from the National Association for Music Education. THIEF!!!

If it were your art, and you would normally get paid some small amount for their download but now will not, did they take something from you?

That material I posted is not copyrighted. Downloading copyrighted material without permission from the owner is. Your ignorance is showing~
