We are now currently tied with 1998 for warmest year on record (which means the last 120 years.... do NOT pay any attention to the Medieval warming period... it didn't happen... really... don't look at that)

this will get pumped over and over again by the global warming fear mongering flat earthers....

Arctic sea ice reached its annual minimum on Sept. 19, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center. The 2010 average extent of 1.89 million square miles (4.90 million square kilometers) was the third lowest September sea ice extent on record (30.4 percent below average).

Wasn't it back in May that the all knowing experts proclaimed that 2010 would be the warmest year on record? Now it has been pulled back to a tie... I wonder where it will be in 2.5 months.

Note to morons: it is the TREND LINE.... that does not mean there were not peaks and valleys over the 15 years.

If we look at the trend line for the past 30 years it would show the increase the fear mongers like to hype. If we start from 1000 years ago we would see roughly 200 years of warmth followed by a steady decline in temps which would trough in the little ice age followed by a rise in temps back to current levels. imagine that... all that change in 1000 years and man wasn't yet pumping out CO2. hmmm.... it can't be that there are natural cooling and warming periods could it?

Nah... man MUST be causing this one, so lets hand more power to the governments of the world. Nothing could go wrong if we do that.

You know SF, I'm a simple girl. When I have an illness, I go to a doctor. The one time it was sort of a serious illness, I went to a doctor, and then 3 specialists for further opinions. Once it became clear the consensous was that I should pursue a particular route, that's what I did. I educated myself about what they thought I had, but in the end, I took their advice. Because they're experts, and I'm not.

And since almost all of the experts agree that climate change is ocurring, that it is man-made, and most of the debate is about how quickly it is occuring, I accept that.

But you do have Tinfoil on your side. Of course, he is also a 9/11 truther. :(

Oh, you also have my aunt on your side. Of course she believes that aliens live among us and any idiot can go outside and see them just walking around at 3 am. :(

Except that it is not what is going on. Your analogy fails. No one is arguing that the climate is changing.... because it is ALWAYS changing. No one is arguing that the in the last 120 years, the most recent 10 have been the warmest.

The JOKE that man is the primary cause.... show me the data... not some summary that a politician at the IPCC wrote... but the DATA that shows this. Because right now... Phil Jones, one of the leading fear mongers... has stated that 'it is man because we can't explain it otherwise'.

That is NOT science. That is GUESSING. That is like saying 'I don't know what caused this hurricane, so it must have been a butterfly flapping its wings'

As for changing... that is the point.... according to the theory of AGW... we should still be seeing INCREASES in avg global temps. Yet we have flat lined for the past 15 years.... even though the population is still expanding, construction is still taking place, deforestation is still occurring, CO2 levels still rising... yet we can't seem to find significant warming. If man is truly the cause... then what natural variance is off setting mans warming right now?

Side note: the reason you warmers are called flat earthers... is because they had CONSENSUS!!! too. Just as those who were POSITIVE the earth was the center of the universe.

Just like SARs, just like avian flu, just like swine flue, just like global cooling, just like killer bees, if the government can make the population FEAR something.... they gain power. Take a good hard look at the money flowing into global warming 'research'... I wonder what would happen to that funding if one of the scientists being paid for said research found that there wasn't a problem? Ya think their funding would go away?

No... my point is that it has not warmed in the past 15 years which would indicate there is either a flaw in AGW theory or there is an unexplained natural variance that is offsetting the 'I'm sure its' man's contribution.

If you look at AGW... the cherry picking comes when they keep highlighting the last 120 years and typically omitting the data from the medieval warming period and little ice age.

Pretty much like someone stating the earth is only 6000 years old because a book told them so. They also refuse to look at earlier data/data that contradicts their religion.

Well SF, I have been reading the National academies of science a lot lately, as well as some very interesting, but horrifying, economic predictions of the effects of climate change, as well as reports that the Pentagon, yep the Pentagon, has done accessing the national security implications of climate change, and really I don't see much, if any room for debate.

And no, I don't buy that scientists have concocted global warming in a big conspiracy to gain grant money. I'm surprised that you do, but you are entitled to your opinion.

I don't really believe we are able to turn back now anyway. I think this song was written when the Carter years gave way to the Reagan years.

I wish you could be right. But there is very little chance that you are.
