The Tea Party was the same.
We live in a time of extremism -the Dem's have swung way left, the Repubs to Trumps nationalism.

It's not there there isn't a center -there is, but centrists frequently find no one to represent them

I have to disagree on the Tea Party. Reducing the size of government and lowering taxes isn't extreme or radical. Maybe some individuals in the TP were radical or extremist, but the TP core principles weren't.

I went to a Tea Party rally shortly after Obama was inaugurated -and that was exactly what it was about.
Reducing the size and scope of federal powers ( return to federalism) -and not running up trillions in debt.

But somewhere along the way....they wound up putting candidates like Christine O'Donnell (Delaware Senate candidate)
and went fringe right.

Meh, I don't know if fear is the right word. But yeah, I have some reservations about Islam and I've been voicing them for over a decade.
