Steubenville Thoughts

I have not seen the CNN article people are discussing, if you have a link, I would appreciate it as it needs to be sent to everyone to show a good example of what must not happen. We need to be relentlessness with pressure on CNN to do an hour long apology for that type of crap. Not to mention firing every single MF'er that had anything to do with reporting it like that.

It wasn't an article, it was the live reporting yesterday, and articles were written about it. I am guessing they are going to clean up their act today, I saw one reporter tweet Soladaid O'Brien about it (she had not been on yesterday) and she responded that she was going to be covering this story today. My guess is she won't be expressing sympathy over the poor rapists. There was an instant backlash. I know Candy Crowley made a complete ass of herself, but am not familiar with the other two reporters involved. Guess what though? They were all women.

The women were the ones crying about the poor football players? WTF??

Yeah, it's very upsetting. I thought to myself they must be able to view the boys as their sons, but not be able to view the girl as their daughter. But that was only my first thought, after "WTF?". I think there's a lot more going on there. I can't explain it though.

Sounds like Candy Crowley, alright... :cof1:

One silver lining to this kind of coverage is that it plays to the fear factor of potential perpetrators & their parents. The prospect of "lives ruined" might resonate more in that respect, as absurd as it seems on the surface.

Crowley 'what is the long term impact on the lives of two young men being found guilty of rape, essentially'??? First off... 'essentially'... um no, not essentially, they raped her. How about the long term impact on her life. fuck the two cowards and fuck everyone who was at that party and did nothing to stop this...

I know she was awful. It was just ridiculous. I don't know what is wrong with these women. I literally have no explanation for it. Other than they are dumb fucks.

What's retarded is that we have to sit through fake appologies all the time whenever a celebrity or politician does or says something stupid. This is not exactly an affair or a gaffe. If they want to make an apology, they can do it at sentencing.

The reporter named 'poppy' was just as bad...

the guy was the only one who even mentioned the impact on the victim and that was just as a two second aside.

Yeah and my mistake, one of them was a man. I thought all three were women. Candy and that Poppy said the worse things though anyway. Maybe it has something to do with being willing to infantilize yourself by going around as a grown-ass woman calling yourself Candy and Poppy.

I just heard on the news that the victim's getting death threats. How about them apples?

People make me sick.

I hope she survives this. My biggest fear for her is suicide. Because this just keeps getting worse, she must feel as if she doesn't have any friends, and she is being blamed for this in so many quarters. I thought this was the best thing I have seen written on this. It expresses my feelings so well: http://feministing.com/2013/03/18/s...ilty-but-rape-culture-remains-alive-and-well/

How did ILA get her address?

I posted elsewhere this whole thing has been screwed up with the school, coaches, police department, everyone trying to cover up the story just to save their little sports hero pedophile rapists.
