To leave false clues intended to confuse. I don't know. All I can do is speculate. I don't really trust the news or the government to be honest with us anyway, so I haven't spent much time on this subject. When you can't fact check, how are you supposed to trust known liars?

Nothing Paddock did approached rocket science so I don't think he was exceptionally bright. He was exceptionally determined, I'll grant that. You can't beat video poker games with smarts and I don't buy the tale that he made millions gambling. Money laundering millions, maybe. But scoring consistent wins against video poker games is mathematically impossible.

Money laundering explains the missing hard drive though.
