New Eyes in the Sky: Protecting Privacy from Domestic Drone Surveillance

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – UAV’s or “drones” as they are called – are on the way. Just this week the Los Angeles Times reported that Customs and Border Patrol agency has been lending their Predator drones to law enforcement agencies for domestic operations. And their use is only going to spread.

The question is, will drones become pervasive spying tools that change the nature of American life? Will we be able to walk out of our front door without wondering at all times whether some eye in the sky might be watching every move we make?

democrats and republicans, liberals and conservatives, while both like to profess a yearning desire to be free and speak about loving their liberties, are in reality police state loving control freaks too scared of he shadows of their political opposites to trust anyone or anything but their own self serving interests and will secretly applaud all actions by local governments to appropriate any resources possible to spy on their neighbors and grandmothers to ensure that their will is carried out.

old ben said it best, but reps enjoy making the sheep afraid

besides, you are on camera whenever you leave home by some government's or private cameras

cameras and recording devices just keep getting smaller and cheaper with better resolution and more storage capacity

welcome to life in a goldfish bowl

Our Government just declassified a bunch of documents detailing a series of satellites they launched in the 60's( I believe) that can pinpoint someone's house from orbit and take pictures so clear they can see you swimming in your pool from space...

not that it should matter, but since you asked.....

the last two articles I've read on drone usage by law enforcement were...

1) looking for three sons of a farming family camped out on their property, wanted by law enforcement for supposedly threatening law enforcement officers who unlawfully arrested their parents.

2) a 'test' flight through a california neighborhood that just happened to spot a small marijuana grow operation in the private backyard of an american citizen, said backyard being secured by an 8' privacy fence.

I find it amusing that the people who thought it was alright for The Bush administration to spy now have a problem with this.

and i find it amusing that those who thought it a constitutional violation for bush to spy on americans now have no problem with obama having the power to indefinitely detain one.
