Obama and his kiss of death strikes again...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hs0cvwDLjow"]YouTube- Obama for Specter[/ame]

Pennsylvania Rep. Joe Sestak defeated Sen. Arlen Specter in the Democratic Senate primary, a large-scale political upset that ends the career of one of the enduring figures in Pennsylvania politics.

:good4u:

LOL. Maybe he too wants the job so badly he'll run as an independent... How many o'fors does that make for Obama? If I were a D I'd ask him to please stay at home...

in other news, Blanche Lincoln (D) Senate incumbent from Arkansas fails to gain majority and is forced into a two man showdown in three weeks....

Outstanding night for liberals, on balance.

The far more progressive Admiral Sestak wins.

Dems hold onto John Murtha's seat, which the GOP expected to win and was considered a bellweather district for the fall election.

Conserva-dem Blanche Lincoln forced into a runoff against a progressive dem.

And Rand Paul will have to explain to Kentucky farmers why he wants to eliminate agricultural subsidies. Good luck with that. And the dems shot down a blue dog in kentucky, and nominated a progressive to run against Tea Bag Party candidate Rand Paul.

All in all, I like how this evening went down. :clink:

Specter was a fool to think the Dems really wanted him.....

He was trailing badly in the Republican primary, after barely surviving last time. This was his only hope. Unfortunately, even as a DINO he's trailing the Republican in the polls and he wasn't showing any of the usual incumbent advantage vs. Toomey when compared to Sestak, who's more liberal. And Sestak obviously has the potential to grow a lot more than Specter in the polls, because he's less well known. The Democrats would have to be blind not to dump Specter. Obama's endorsement was so obviously a half-hearted response to a promise he made during the healthcare debate that it was laughable.

funny how webhackway picks a 30yr republican who ran as a dem cause he couldn't win as a republican to talk about. The Kentucky establishment republican went down to the tea partying Paul winning over the minority leaders toe tapping fudge buddy. Then a dem wins the only seat actually up for grabs and super hack webway is silent.

Good night for the real fiscall conservatives the tea party

it's my understanding he has pledged to vote against cap and trade.....are you sure he isn't actually another blue dog?......(may have this guy confused with the one who won Murtha's seat.......will look more closely)

This fact probably zipped right by you, but the two dems got more votes than the two Repubs. Do you think all those Spector voters will stay home? Think they will ALL vote for Toomey? Only 254,402 Specter voters would be needed to put Sestak over the total number of votes both Republicans received. Looks like Dems were more popular than Republicans. I mean if we are going to use your logic.

Specter should have retired rather than doing this silly party-switching gambit that failed spectacularly Hell, he's 80 and he's been in the Senate for 30 years.

Actually, I expecting some moron like yourself to jump on that. But the fact is that there are more registered Democrats in PA than Republicans, and they can't vote in the GOP primary. They'll have to wait for November to cast their vote for Toomey. :)

I perfer the real Democrat to the "Former" Republican. I am happy about the result.

I suspect Obama will stay home more and more the closer we get to November. Much like Regan and Clinton did in the second Novmeber after there elections.

The result here was more driven by the Bush effect than the Obama effect. This is Sestack's closing ad:

Ouch.

Spector's alliance with Bush hurt him more than his alliance with Obama!

Remember this was a Democratic primary.

Actually, Soc, using the primary vote at all to predict who will win the general is pretty silly. God knows if the primary numbers mattered the Democrats would win every election in the south.
