The violence was allegedly inflicted in a makeshift facility, known locally as "mini Auschwitz", discovered by Ukrainian investigators in Pisky-Radkivski village in the eastern Kharkiv region.
At least 10 torture sites have been found by Ukrainian investigators in the Kharkiv region. There are also claims that some prisoners were buried alive.

Although the Kharkiv region is mainly Russian speaking, residents did not get to vote in the recent referendum on joining Russia. It is not one of the provinces that Putin has declared liberated from Ukrainian Nazis.
