Heading into Memorial Day weekend, a study predicts some Southern locations are poised for sharp upticks in new Covid-19 cases while Alabama's capital was down to one ICU bed.

The Miami area, populous areas of Texas, and parts of Alabama and Tennessee will see rapid surges in new Covid-19 cases, according to a new outbreak predictions model.

Hello guno,

Sounds petty serious:

"She said the holiday weekend and loosened restrictions could cause the virus to "go like a prairie fire ... It is now really having the potential to get out of control."
Social distancing and masks "really work," she said. "This emphasis on personal responsibility is fantastic. If everybody did that we wouldn't need to worry about arguing about these restrictions. The challenge is we all have different ideas of personal responsibility in a civil society.""

From the OP link:

"Montgomery, Alabama, on its last intensive care unit bed, was sending sick patients to Birmingham, more than an hour away, officials said.

Mayor Steven Reed said the city's health care system is "maxed out."

Alabama had 13,288 confirmed Covid-19 cases as of Thursday afternoon, according to Johns Hopkins University data. At least 528 people have died. That's 2,358 more cases than reported the same time last week."

Another unfortunate big hit for black and Hispanic minorities.

Outside of Miami, Dallas and Houston I never thought of the South as having a large Hispanic population although it's possible I'm very wrong on that.

But considering over half of black Americans live in the South and are among the most vulnerable, along with they tend to be religious folks, I'm not quite getting why the OP is rooting for this.

What part of the OP do you see as "rooting for this?"

Seems ppl have a choice.. They can stay home on Sunday morning & watch it like they have been, or if their feeling lucky they can go & take a chance.........

trump will have a hard time blaming the consequences on someone else if it gets ugly..

His fans of course will except any excuse for whatever he does, that's why their the best..........:rofl2:

Hello cawacko,

He’s rooting for white people to die obviously. But it’s not like COVID will just hit the “white areas” and avoid the rest.

I don't see anything about white people or dying in the OP. It just talks about southerners.

dream on , the southern crackas will be dropping like fly's

Dream on? I not an uncaring idiot that wants anybody to die--that is the worst kind of scum.

But we both know the high percentage of minorities in the South and that African Americans are more susceptible to getting the virus. Wishing harm on anybody will hurt minorities disproportionately. But, I guess you don't care about them, either.

You surely have no feeling for other humans.

Goobers, crackas, honkeys? Who do you think he is talking about?

"its you right wing crackas who have been protesting to open their churches, feral honkeys with guns"

PoliTalker, you are being naive or covering for the worst kind of scum who wishes harm on others for their political beliefs.

Texas is 38% Hispanic. Houston is 44% Hispanic and 23% black. FL is 26% Hispanic and 17% black.
