South Korea to ignorant of history rumpf: We’ve never been part of China

South Korea’s government on Thursday sought to correct President Trump, publicly declaring it was never part of China.

Trump said last week that Chinese President Xi Jinping told him during their recent meeting that Korea was once part of China.

“[Xi] Then went into the history of China and Korea,” he recounted to the Wall Street Journal. “And you know, you’re talking about thousands of years … and many wars. And Korea actually used to be a part of China.”

Trump’s remarks have become an issue in South Korea’s presidential election ahead of a May 9 vote.

“This is clearly a distortion of history and an invasion of the Republic of Korea’s sovereignty,” conservative Liberal Korea Party candidate Hong Joon Pyo said through a spokesman.

A representative for Moon Jae In, a Democratic Party of Korea candidate, demanded the full context of Xi’s remarks.

Ahn Cheol Soo’s People Party said it would be regrettable, if true, for China to distort history during global diplomacy.

Trump and Xi met in Florida earlier this month to discuss international affairs, including North Korea.

Tensions between the U.S. and North Korea are rising after the combative nation's failed missile launch last week.

Trump has repeatedly urged China to pressure North Korea into ending its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

yeah its not the south korean government its south korean candidates and they are wrong.

Gwanghae couldnt even assume the throne without permission from china and the korean leaders were always kings as they couldnt assume the title emperor because it would equal the title of the emperor in china and they were understood to be one step lower.

They also couldnt change reign names. They had to follow the chinese calendar at all times.

yes. if you knew anything about history you would know joseon and goryeo since the mongols were part of china.

Why do you defend ignorance?

Trump weirdly says Korea was “part of China,” which is totally wrong and could enrage South Korea

excerpt ..

The next moment came in 13th century AD, when the Mongol empire’s global domination happened to include both China and Korea. After a total of seven campaigns to take Korea, the Mongols succeeded, but “even then, the Mongols controlled China more directly than Korea,” said Hwang. Setting aside the controversial question of whether the empire of Mongol invaders counts as “China,” Korea was regardless only a vassal state of the Mongols.
