South Dakota Top State for Business in 2013

I thought this was interesting to see where all the states ranked. I personally wouldn't want to move to South Dakota because I like urban living too much but I'll give them their props for this accomplishment.

Yeah, Alaska doesn't get to tap its oil. Luckily for N. Dakota its oil is predominantly on private and state land and not federal.

I don't think they have that much. Pretty sure it is not a main driver of their economy. They have a lot of ag business and minerals, also started attracting bigger firms like Citi to the state.

I will check to see if I can find their oil numbers...

Not really much production there. 23 states have greater production than them.

I believe mining has gotten really big up north in N. Dakota in recent years. No idea how that has impacted S. Dakota.
