I think you take away from the word RACISM when you use it tied to a minoirty saying something obviously not politically correct.
White people hung blacks from trees by the thousands and didn't let them have jobs or vote for a long time. To me that's racist.

I say we get back to the matter at hand and let's look at this situation in light of the complete and total lambasting almost every one of GWB's selections underwent.

I find it highly amusing the level of histrionics we see displayed at Sotomayor's questioning. She's had some hard hitting questions but the unmitigated fact of the matter is she has had plenty of time to prepare for what the Republicans were going to throw at her.

She's a big gal. She can and has handled the Repub Boys and their questions. With regards to the pea-brained comments she made about a Latina woman being able to handle a situation better, while perhaps true, was politically incorrect and silly to say even in these "progressive times". Soon she will have no doubts what her place is in the new order of things on the SC.

The point is she will get appointed and all this bally-hoo is what is really stupid.

Look back at the past questioning of potential Supreme Court Justices and know she's getting "handled" pretty damn well, and kindly STFU! :pke:
 
Hell, the Democrats made Justice Roberts( I believe) wife cry and she had to leave the room they were so disgusting....

look what they did to Clarence Thomas, Robert Bork..now all of sudden they are the champion of the minority...and the Republicans are all just beating the hell out of her.....the double standards is what makes me sick...

He "grilled" her on a Perry Mason episode and told some jokes. I'm sure he'll vote to confirm, but didn't seem to have anything serious to add or even want to pretend that he is taking his job seriously.

I can understand some people saying it was taken out of context if it was only one time, but when it was repeated over and over again, there is no way it isn't a racist statement.

Another thing that bothered me about her, was her dodging questions about abortions and guns.
