Fossil fuels are finite. We will have to transition someday regardless - and probably in the next few decades.
The time to start that process is now - changing our infrastructure, and accelerating development of wind, solar & the rest. This isn't a partisan issue.
We have enough fossil fuels to carry us out more than 100 years. The reason we, and many other western nations, are in the mess we are in is because of the efforts to stupidly try to change everything without a transition.
The reality is that you cannot achieve pollution goals by destroying nuclear power, hydroelectric power and gas-powered turbines. You cannot achieve energy independence by shutting down pipelines, exploration and gas leases.
You cannot have an "electric" society without massive amounts of power. Electric is not "green" by any stretch of the imagination. Batteries require a tremendous amount of mining and energy to even produce. WORSE, when they expire, they are highly toxic. Disposing of them will be a monstrous challenge.
I wish leftist could THINK. Really I do.
