The numbers do not show 7 million people arriving and staying in the US as was claimed in the OP. The numbers show 7 million people arriving at the border and the majority of them not being allowed on US soil or immediately removed from US soil.

If illegal immigration continues at the same rate about 3 times as many people will have illegally entered during the Biden administration as did during the Trump administration. Trump had the stay in Mexico policy so the asylum seekers we forced to stay in Mexico until their asylum claim was decided. Biden did away with the stay in Mexico policy. So asylum seekers now stay in the US instead of Mexico.

If someone is immediately expelled does it matter if they were vetted for criminal/political background?

That's one of those problems that I'll happily leave to others to figure out, TOP.

Many issues are important, but we can't all prioritize every one.

Right now other people are worried about immigration.
The problem isn't burning on my mind.

I'm concerned about health care especially, education, labor rights, and for some reason,
even though it has no effect on my family personally,
women's reproductive rights.

The Rio Grande is a place that rarely finds a spot in typical New England dinner conversation.
Apparently, Lake Erie isn't interesting enough water for you.:laugh:

I guess you missed the part where the courts said Trump's actions violated the law. It wasn't Biden that eliminated the stay in Mexico policy. It was the conservative supreme court that refused to take the case to keep it in place.

The wall and defenses at the border are the same as they were during Trump's lying 4 years. Biden has caught and deported far more than Trump did. There are simply no open borders. Those patrolling the border are the same as they were before. Biden has arrested more and deported more than Trump did.
