Dodd's Wife a Former Director of Bermuda-Based IPC Holdings, an AIG Controlled Company
By Kevin Rennie

No wonder Senator Christopher Dodd (D-Conn) went wobbly last week when asked about his February amendment ratifying hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses to executives at insurance giant AIG. Dodd has been one of the company's favorite recipients of campaign contributions. But it turns out that Senator Dodd's wife has also benefited from past connections to AIG as well.

Clegg was compensated for her duties to the company, which was managed by a subsidiary of AIG. In 2003, according to a proxy statement, Clegg received $12,000 per year and an additional $1,000 for each Directors' and committee meeting she attended.

Did they give her the whole $12k in one lump sum or spread it out over the year?

Wow, a whole $12k plus $1k for every director's & committee meeting?

If she could manage a meeting every week she could earn as much as $64,000! Man oh man, she would be rolling in the dough then, huh?

I heard a snippit last night about a Conn. group that are out for Dodd's head. Flat out calling him a liar over his involvement with AIG bonuses. He's toast.

She was a consultant (and at $12k a year she either wasn't much of one or it was a small outfit).

It was with a subsidiary of AIG, which could mean almost anything. But in the world of finance, what they pay you is how they judge you. And $12k ain't exactly a blue ribbon.

very true, but it certainly keeps you under the radar until shit like this bonus thing happens. I'd be curious to know just how many other companies his wife 'consulted' for.

I would have thought the massive campaign contributions AIG made to Dodd's campaigns would have been enough to wake people up.

AIG is based in Connecticut. Of course he'd be the senator most likely to have connections to them.
