Some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to Sunset

You claimed unconstitutionality for programs just like the founders wrote into the constitution

If the post office is constitutionally sound

So are SS and Medicare

Perfectly on point to prove whats constitutional ass sack

The post office is truly business being run by the federal govt which is socialism while SS and medicare are social programs to help you afford retirement or medical bills. They don't provide you with a home or medical services only the funds to go pay for them yourself.

The Constitution is not a program or a government agency.

Yes.

No. They are unconstitutional. False equivalence fallacy.

Attempted proof by false equivalence.

What a fucking moron. The postal servive is a business and all of it's employees are employed by the govt. That is the classic definition of socialism, govt controlling the means of production which is exactly what we have with the postal service. Govt does not control how you spend your SS dollars or where you get your healthcare so neither fit the definition of socialist. Socialism and a social program are two entirely differently things that the right is too fucking stupid to comprehend.

I don't give a fuck. The fact remains had I not had that money stolen from me I'd be retired by now.

Who do you know a leftist is lying? They are breathing.
The moral of the story is that you have been blatantly lied to by your heroes in the rightwing media. I was told the same tale myself 45 years ago, that SS wouldn't be there for me when I retired.

The money they took in your FICA taxes paid for your grandmother's and mother's SS benefits.

You can start collecting SS benefits as early as 62, though the full benefits kick in at 67.

SS is basically a pension. Having a pension is a wise addition to any retirement strategy.

You were never going to retire in your 40s and 50s.

I wonder if any of these anti-SS morons ever stop to think that if it didn't exist, HE would be the one supporting his parent(s) in their old age and paying for their medical expenses if they hadn't saved enough? That's what happened before the programs were created. My parents had to help support my g-ma, who was born in the late 1880s. She had no social security.

SS benefits is one of the great contributions liberals made to this country.

A lot of slack jawed conservatives seem to think the government collects their FICA taxes and just hordes it, never realizing they are actually directly supporting their mothers and grandmothers

it is true that Scott may not be reelected to the House....especially if he gets elected as President or Vice President in 24......pretty sure he can beat the Pasty Faced Pedophile......

Scott certainly won’t be re-elected to the House. Very unlikely to be elected President.

its easy to get back everything you've ever paid into SS......it only takes two things.......Demmycrat fueled inflation and staying alive......

Why dont you just contact the SS administration and tell them you no longer want a monthly payment from them. Then you will be done with SS.

I was able to go on my wife’s SS (I was widowed at 60) until I reached full retirement. New wife just turned 50 so she has a long way to go. Retirement at 62 is pretty damn risky because you can’t work and collect, at least not much.
62 is a no brainer of you are retired. Being self employed, my FICA contributions were steady, but not as high as my friends who worked local/Fed govt. jobs.

If you are in a position to earn less than the threshold via part time work, collecting early is fine.

But as you suggest...it's not for everyone.

So you are not eligible for SS! Pensions are always better, but so few of us receive them today.
I do get a statement every year ...lol...but I agree... pensions are awesome.. it's a great deal of hard work to earn one, but so worth it...

A statement of your projected monthly SS benefit when you retire. You have to have had a job to get one. Seems you didn't.

I thought I was answering TOP, oops!!

If your entire working history consisted of teaching, you would not participate in SS, nor would you be getting a statement from them.

It's an open forum and anyone can respond to anyone else.

You were a teacher huh? That explains a lot
