DQ, they're basically black gangs. And contrary to wiki leaks the gangs essentially started well before then. That's the basis of the video that I linked to on their history.

the impetus of my post was Desh speaking about past racism in the South. I agree there was past racism in the South. I showed how racism existed in other areas as well, in this particular case LA. The original "gang" in LA was founded by three black kids who were not allowed into the Boy Scouts because of their race so they started their own group which evolved into today what we call gangs and the Bloods and the Crips.

I'm well aware there are gangs of many different races but that's not relevant to post I was making or why I chose to select the movie I did.

Have you watched the video? Do you have an issue with it or how I've described it?

i have lived in pacoima, ca (90% black, 9.99% hispanic, 0.01% caucasian)

i have lived in the city of san fernando, ca, 95% hispanic, 5% caucasian ?% black

i have lived in hawaii as a haole

and i spent a lifetime one year in rural michigan in a primarily polish community

i am ca native (western la)

and i have been stopped by cops while/for driving as a hippie

canada is nice and my favorite town there is montreal (I would have moved there were were it not for the winters)

growing up in la and going through two race riots

living in gang territory for some of that time

i guess that i felt that i wanted to do some personal research rather than watch a video.

that and my anger about how the gangs grew and thrived on the drug trade due to our stupid antidrug laws

one of the places that i lived, a house two houses down from mine was shot up over a drug territory dispute

i have a lot of anger over a poor education system and a lack of employment for teens, especially when they can get in the drug trade and make more than most people with decent jobs.

the fact that my son changed schools to escape the local gangs that wanted him to join only to discover that the school that he transferred to was run by an asian gang.

i am sorry that i reacted so strongly, but your post really punched one of my hot buttons.

so all i can really do is apologize for my response

i grew up in a white bread upper middle class community and went to decent schools, then i moved into the work force and lived in other places and learned a different set of lessons


i hope that this explains why i did what i did
