Authorities are looking for a 60-year-old man suspected of shooting a woman and her 13-year-old daughter at a Crescent City trailer park.


The Del Norte County Sheriff's Office said on Tuesday that the victims, whose names have not been released, are in critical condition and that the girl's injuries are life threatening.




Officials told the Crescent City Daily Triplicate they are on the look-out for Jerry Wayne Steele of Los Gatos, who was under a restraining order to stay away from the child.




Sheriff's Cmdr. Tim Athey said there was evidence of a struggle, and that investigators believe the two were shot after Steele's attempted kidnapping of the girl at about 7 a.m.





Athey said Steele was charged previously with molesting the girl...

As dozens of mourners stood at a balloon-filled memorial for a 15-year-old murder victim Tuesday afternoon, a gunman opened fire on the same block and wounded a 24-year-old man — while a stunned Chicago Sun-Times reporter watched.






At about 2:20 p.m., staff reporter Kim Janssen was covering the slaying of Jovany Diaz when he heard a man shouting at the corner of Kildare and Hirsch in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood.






The man — who was among the mourners at Diaz’s memorial just moments earlier — fired two shots into the air.






Then, he pointed his handgun south on Kildare and fired two or three more shots, Janssen said.






The victim was shot in both legs and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center...

Louisville police say a game being played by a group of kids led to a shooting that hurt a 12-year-old.




The incident happened at about 10 p.m. Monday in the Glenmary neighborhood.




Witnesses say the kids were ringing the doorbells of neighbors, then running away.




When one man became upset by the prank, he allegedly fired at the group, hitting the 12-year-old in the shoulder.

A pickup basketball game in Harrisburg's Reservoir Park on Tuesday ended when a 19-year-old man was shot and killed on the basketball court.




The shooting happened just before 8 p.m. during an argument between two teens.




Police were called to the basketball court just off Walnut Street in Reservoir Park.




There, they found a 19-year-old man lying on the court with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.

Escambia deputies are looking for leads in a shooting and vehicle arson early Tuesday morning.




The shooting took place about 1:45 a.m. at 840 Limoges Way.




Deputies were called after residents heard a number of gunshots in the area.




Deputies were told by the homeowner, Wanda Calland, that she woke to the sounds of gunfire but went back to sleep, thinking nothing of it.




Several minutes later Calland was awaken by fire department personnel informing her that her vehicle was on fire.






Crime scene technicians found several bullet holes in the walls of the residence and shell casings on the street.

On 06-14-2011 at approximately 9:21 pm, the Tyler Police Department received an emergency call from the resident at 1512 W. Nutbush advising that he had just shot someone.




Prior to officers arriving on scene, a second phone call was received from 1900 block of N. Gaston.




The witness there advised that there was a man on his porch who had been shot.




At the Fenton address, Officers located a black male, Kenneth Mass, age 56 of Tyler, lying on the porch.




Mass had a single gunshot wound to the upper right shoulder.

A man died after being shot Tuesday evening at a complex of townhomes west of Alvarado Boulevard, near the Union City-Fremont border, police said.


Officers responded to a 5:07 p.m. call reporting a shooting at the complex in the 4100 block of Venus Place.


Officers found the man on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound, in front of one of the townhomes facing Alvarado Boulevard, police said.


Authorities are actively investigating…

What about Canada? And do the Swiss surpass us in murder rate? The number of homes with a weapon is higher even than in the US... According to your theory, this means that their murder rate, specifically in shooting, should be higher than ours. Can you give a link comparing the Brits and the Swiss that you trust? Can you explain this dichotomy?
