The former Ohio poll worker who admitted flat-out to voting twice for President Barack Obama in November was convicted Tuesday of illegal voting, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

Melowese Richardson of Madisonville, Ohio was accused of eight counts of illegal voting in the 2008, 2011 and 2012 elections. She pleaded no contest to four counts in exchange for prosecutors dropping the remaining charges, the newspaper reported. A judge immediately convicted Richardson, who now faces up to six years in prison.

Richardson had admitted to Cincinnati’s WCPO-TV in February that she voted twice, after documents showed she first submitted an absentee ballot and told an official she later voted at the polls as well.

“Yes I voted twice,” Richardson told WCPO. “I, after registering thousands and thousands of people, certainly wanted my vote to count, so I voted. I voted at the polls.”

Richardson, who had been a Hamilton County poll worker since 1998 until being fired this year, said she had “absolutely no intent” to commit voter fraud.

Among the charges she pleaded no contest to included voting three times for a relative who has been in a coma for 2003, the Enquirer reported.

According to the newspaper, Richardson’s “penmanship and familiarity” led to her being convicted.

“They noticed a bunch of absentee ballots coming from the same place with the same handwriting,” prosecutor Bill Anderson said.

Richardson is the third person in the county to be convicted of illegal voting this year, and three others have cases pending.

Richardson will be sentenced July 9.

the five year Bush study that found only tiny scraps of this type of crime never said it was NON exsisstant.

they merely said it was statistically nonexistant.

do you know the dfferance?

In this case it would be 1 in 207,643,594, a percentage so low it's can't be assigned a number.

and it changes no election.

the voting purges the republicans have done for decades robs voters of their vote.

It has changed the outcome of elections

(1) Yes, voter impersonation does exist, but it is exceedingly rare, ineffectual, already a crime and comes with severe penalties.

(2) This woman voted as herself twice, once by absentee and once in person. Any Voter ID law proposed anywhere would not have prevented her from voting twice.

(3) In addition to voting as herself twice, she voted by absentee ballot for a relative that was in a coma. Again, any Voter ID law proposed anywhere would not have prevented her from voting by absentee ballot for her relative that was in a coma.

(4) The moral of the story is that if you really, really want to do something about electoral misconduct and fraud, the place to start is absentee ballot fraud, but Republicans will never do that. I wonder why.

Black voters now vote in greater numbers than white people per their population.

the voter supression done by republicans did this.

the black people stood in lines for hours to vote.

They bonded and solidified their commitment to fight the fraud.

They scaraficed to vote.

The tea party faction has no idea what they have done to the republican party.

you outed them as election cheaters to the world.

You magnified your own evil.

you will never gain in votes again until your party loses your current platform.

ride this one to your own death if you wish.

dont expect anyone to believe you and fox next time when you tell us all how your guy is REALLY winning by 5 points.

even your own minions wont believe it

Well-said. All the voter id laws are addressing fraud at polling places - someone showing up and voting as someone else. Doesn't sound like this woman did that; and that kind of fraud is very rare. If we took all the time and money spent by republicans on addressing that issue - which really is about suppressing the vote - and put it toward strengthening our voting process - voting machines with paper backups; sufficient voting machines for all districts so people don't have to stand in line for hours; standardizing voting procedures; cleaning up voter registration lists per the HAVA legislation - then we would be doing something constructive. But that's not really what repubs want, right?

I used to fill out my first husband's absentee ballot; on anything I thought we might disagree on, I asked him how he wanted me to vote. And he did sign the ballot at the end; I didn't sign for him. But ethically it was a bit borderline... but it made sure he voted.

Anyway, if we want to address fraud, absentee ballots are the thing to check on. But voter id laws were never about fraud, they were/are all about suppressing votes.

the right hid their voter fraud well for decades.

the MSM refused to report on it.

that is what a corporate media does.

they also helped march us into war on lies.

That would be me! Hi TC! A much slower forum site with three users.

You'll have to close your eyes at some of the nastiness on here. They make Ted look like a cupcake.
