So the Smithsonian can’t show that slavery was bad?

I was never a fan of strict biblical literalism.

I'm sure 200 years from now, people will pass judgement on us. People who eat meat today might someday be considered unethical barbarians, because the livestock industry is predicated on the cruel confinement
What 'cruel confinement'? Beef cattle go out to pasture every day.
, suffering,
How are they 'suffering'?
and terrifying slaughter of sentient mammals.
Nothing terrifying about it. You obviously have never seen how beef are harvested.
Some of the New Atheists belatedly became a little alarmed at the demise of Christianity in Western Europe. Richard Dawkins said he is basically a cultural Christian, and appreciates living in a society where the Christian ethos, Christian zeitgeist, and Christian traditions are upheld.

I think he probably started worrying and realizing that as he and Hitchens were seeking to destroy Christianity, Islam, anarchism, moral relativism, and other ideologies were moving into the void to replace it among young adults. Atheism doesn't have a universal ethos or system of thought to sell itself, and Hitchens admits that is a problem, because many people still want to find some universal truth and objectively true value system to aspire towards.
Richard Dawkins is not an atheist.

All JPP MAGAts LEFTISTS are an example of "bad education". Most are stupid and/or demented. None are worth a shit as a citizen, an American nor as a family member.

If each were to die in bed tonight, how many would be missed by their families and how many families would simply say, "Thank GOD!"?
FIFY. Nothing screams mentally deranged louder than this douchebags posts.

All Christians know slavery was very, very wrong. This is one way to tell that MAGAts aren't Christians.

There are two main reasons why MAGAts don't want to discuss slavery.

One has a certain amount of validity - reparations. Making all Euro-Americans pay for something that happened 6-7 generations ago is wrong. Especially if it's just handing out cash to anyone with an African-American ancestor. Since it benefits the United States to maximize the abilities of all citizens and legal residents, then putting more focus on educational and job opportunities for those in need, which covers a lot of African-American families, is good for America. Investing in libraries with online educational programs is a good start. Giving tax breaks to companies that are within easy travel distance of lower income communities is another excellent measure.

Second, and much more evil, is the MAGAt belief that both women and non-European males should be treated like second class citizens. This is why the MAGAts keep pushing "restore the Constitution" which is what Trump did with his $60 Bible - strip out the 11th to 27th Amendments thereby place Euro-American males on top of the financial and power pyramid.

For those two reasons, talking about slavery is banned inside MAGAt areas of control. This is why, in the next civil war, We, the People, need to do to MAGAts what the Israelis are doing to HAMAs.

In addition, Trump’s Bible is missing the Nineteenth Amendment, which grants women the right to vote; the Twenty-Second Amendment, which limits the president to two terms in power; and the Twenty-Sixth Amendment, which lowered the legal voting age from 21 to 18.

Altogether, Trump’s God Bless the U.S.A. Bible, as delivered to Oklahoma’s public schools, did not include Amendments 11 through 27. The text of the Bible itself appeared unchanged from the King James version.

Not all, but a lot of religious leaders are breaking from Trump after supporting him.

The difference between the political side of MAGA and the Evangelical side was clearly demonstrated by the Charlie Kirk memorial.

I know several here want to say they are both one and the same, but the divide between them is clearly visible and, bad for Trump, worsening as his evilness increases.
......TRUMP.....TRUMP....TRUUUUUUMP!!!.....

This is Erika's speech. Note the applause when she said she forgave the murderer of her husband.

This is Trump's speech. Note the muted, scattered applause when he advocated the death penalty for Robinson.

Watch President Trump's full speech at Charlie Kirk's memorial

President Donald Trump spoke at Charlie Kirk's memorial, honoring the conservative activist who was critical to his presidential campaigns.

The original schedule had Erika going last, which is fitting being the widow, but the Orange Jesus changed that. Note his glitzy "It's all about me" imperial entrance.
What we note is what an unhinged douchebag you are. TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP.

As a sociological experiment, I've been attending an evangelical church for the past couple months. There is zero political talk in the sermons, even if a lot of them support Trump outside the church. Their sermons are all New Testament-based. The pastors are all skilled public speakers. And they really are masters at putting on an inspiring show with really high quality contemporary Christian music performed by excellent musicians with modern instruments, and excellent singers.

As an armchair sociologist, it made me realize why they are out-competing the old mainline Protestant churches. They are just more dynamic, younger, and more energetic.

The Kirk Memorial was a mix of a White Nationalist political rally, courtesy of Trump and Miller, and a televangelist revival meeting, courtesy of Erika and several (not all) Turning Point execs. I say not all because a few seemed to be more political than religious.

Keeping 21st Century entertained is a problem since we're so used to having multiple choices of entertainment. A huge change from the days of only three television networks plus PBS. Technology killed the drive-in movie theater...along with drive-in movie pants*. LOL

Since we've become so addicted to instant gratification of entertainment choices, I can see why churches are having to up their game to keep people in the pews for 90 minutes.

Erika's speech = performative.

Erika's speech = performative.
Agreed. Pure televangelism. The point I'm making is the response of the audience. There's clearly a difference between true Christian believers and political self-servers like MAGAs. While I disagree with the racially-tinged Evangelical movement, I think they truly believe in their religion. The MAGAts are only in it for the money and power.

It one reason why there are cracks in the MAGA wall. A split between those who believe in Jesus and those who believe in the mammon-worshiping minion of Satan in the WH.

There have been no slaves in America since 1866.

President Trump was not president then.

No one alive in America has owned slaves or is a slave.

This is desperation in its worst form.

Good grief.
We are talking about our HISTORY, not about what is happening today.

Try to keep up.
