I'll be driving my motorcycle this summer, so it won't affect me nearly as bad as it will others. Those are the ones you need to worry about.
Yeah, my Harley gets 45mpg
Don't you have tons of farm equipment?

Exactly, and we can probably expect this through the summer. If Saudi Arabia goes up in flames, forget about it... if we can FIND gas at ANY price, we'll be lucky.
I really just wanted to know out of curiosity, what the Libs had in mind for how to recover our economy when gas goes to $10 a gallon. What I am hearing, is a bunch of the same grandiose dreams of some alternative fuel that is going to save the day, billions (or trillions) of dollars to convert the infrastructure, and apparently, we're going to have to pay for converting the poor, they can't afford to do this.... but HOW are we going to do any of this, if our economy is in the crapper, and we have no jobs or money? 20...30 years ago, maybe we could have taken action on such a plan, and by now, we wouldn't be in this predicament, but we didn't. And as nice as all of this sounds, it can't be done overnight, and it certainly can't be done if we sink into a depression.

no. i live in the burbs, not a farm.
1) the left needs to be inboard with temporary common sense domestic drilling.
this is why your a limosine liberal and couldn't pass econ 101
1) the left needs to be inboard with temporary common sense domestic drilling.
2) The right needs to get onboard with massive government funded R & D into alternative energy.
3) Excessive use of forign oil needs to be taxed like hell so it's not beneficial to use it.
4) Public transportation must be improved and upgraded. Like Florida's bullet train.
5) Nuclear reactors should be brought onlinesafely and fast.
It has to be an all out effort!

I know that i'm looking to find a 1,000 gallon tank I can secure in my backyard and get it filled with gas for just such an emergency.
You can't store gas for any length of time and expect to use it later because it will lose its octane rating. You'll need to buy a diesel vehicle and store that.
The best thing to do is to set up your home to use heating oil, which is the same as diesel without the road tax. Then have it delivered in a big tank and pump out of that into your vehicle.
what is "common sense" domestic drilling seeing as how you have been mocking domestic drilling for several years now?
Carter made a real push for energy independence, Reagan refunded the entire plan. Now the cons are going to try to blame the Libs?

As painful as it would be, a summer spike in gas prices would probably not be a bad thing in the long run.
People really need to wake up on this issue - and that includes Obama. The threat of regional volatility & price spikes - as well as a threat of real shortages in the not-so-distant-future - is not going away.
We have to get domestic on energy. We can no longer put such a vital aspect of our economy in the hands of a few foreign nations, most of which are not what you would call "stable."

while it would be great if the price hikes 'woke up americans' to get hard on congress for energy policy reform, do you really think congress is going to care?
Wow... Jarhead can actually SPELL using his Taptalk! Has anyone else noticed this?
