Coal is going out of business due to cheap natural gas. I helped convert 12 coal fired steam plants to natural gas just in the last year or 2 before I retired. Coal is not that expensive. It's the expense of the residue and environmental damage from coal that is putting coal under. Coal should be a last resort, not a first one. Some estimates place our natural gas reserves at over 200 years and new reserves are coming on board every day. Some scientists say that natural gas can be obtained from everyday air that we breath all the time. Nicolai Tesla claimed that electricity can be harvested the same way. The future holds many surprises for us. That's why I am a political and scientific progressive. The old shit ain't working out so well anymore.
